Food good but much on a par with many restaurants. Ambience clean but lacking in atmosphere. Piped music too loud. Overall, a satisfactory visit and meal though not outstanding.

I booked the Swan at Heddon on the Wall for 1pm Sunday 17th June, Fathers Day and we were taken straight to our table. The starters came at 1.45pm. At 2.50 we had to ask when the main course would be served. When they did come the meals were just warm. At 3.35pm we decided not to have the third course and paid the bill. whilst paying I heard another customer complaining about the service.

Place was lacking in atmosphere. Maybe because it was quiet 6-7 on Saturday. However despite not being busy staff were not very interested in us. Food dry and over done. Over priced. Portion of salad was just lettuce and tomatoes served in a container the size of a coffee mug. Pricey Vegetable tart served on its own, no potatoe or salad.

Good table service most meals were good but the beef I had was disappointing while the roast potatoes on all roast meals were burnt. Yorkshire puddings flat and undercooked. Despite this the starters and desserts were very good.

My wife and I have been to The Swan several times over the last year. It is a large pub/restaurant so there was no problem getting a table. We both had the roast pork (Sunday lunch) and it came with roast potatoes, carrots, spring cabbage, roast parsnips, yorkshire pudding, stuffing and gravy. It was all delicious and was the best Sunday lunch we have had in some time. My wife had the chocolate brownie with Baileys ice cream and I had the raspberry milkshake cheesecake. The brownie was great but the cheesecake was a bit disappointing as it did not have a biscuit base.
