Restaurant description

Converted from 3 1700s miners' cottages in the former mining village of Rowberrow, The Swan Inn is a wonderfully historic countryside pub. Overlooking the picturesque heather-dotted Beacon Batch, it makes for a perfect pitstop for walkers with its open fires and dog-friendly facilities.

The Swan menu is full of gourmet British pub dishes made with regional, seasonal ingredients served all-day. There is slow cooked belly of Somerset pork with Toulouse cassoulet and buttered kale, as well as diver-caught scallops with beetroot risotto, rocket salad and parmesan crisps. There are sandwiches served during the day, and a popular traditional ploughman's with crusty granary bread.

Cask ales at The Swan in Rowberrow include a number of fine brews from the local Butcombe Brewery alongside an superb range of craft beer. Stop by the pub on Sundays and pair a pint with a choice of roasts served with all the trimmings.

The inn offers luxurious, cosy hotel rooms with exquisite neighbouring natural vistas of the Mendips National Trust area. Still sporting its original stone wall and exposed beam finishes, The Swan Somerset is an 18-minute drive from Worle Rail Station.

Fabulous venue. The pub had the woodburner roaring and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The staff were patient and friendly. The meal was delicious and cooked to perfection. Everything about our visit was impeccable. 10/10. Definately one of the best pubs I've been to.

Good food, but a bit expensive. Good service. Was at a quiet time of the week though

Fish and chips I had was well cooked, hot and plated well most enjoyable. However the menu was very limited, only one vegetarian option and there was' no specials' board which would have offered a further selection. Menu could have included Jacket potatoes with a variety of fillings especially on the lunchtime menu. The ice cream serving could have been 3 scoops for the price The music was rather overpowering although the staff did turn it down when asked. I think the location of the speakers may have contributed to the difficulty of having a conversation. However the staff were very helpful and the general layout of the restaurant was good

Awful! The food was tasteless and dry. My panna cotta was slop and the service was something out of faulty towers. We were asked to order puddings before our dishes were cleared and we had only two minutes to do so, as the chef was ‘willing’ to wait.

Overall- good. I use the Swan because some of my family live within half an hour of it and the view, carpark, play area and pleasant informal but attentive service gives it an edge over other places I know. It isn't a large menu and caters well for children - good, I like that. But maybe over a period it will be good to vary a bit. It's important it isn't too expensive for family eating and that there is a choice of gluten free, low fat etc..

Good menu. Nice service. Well prepared food. Good pub ambience. Plenty of parking. They allow well-behaved dogs ... and children. On the very edge of the Mendips with great walks and rides at the door

The food was great, especially the venison and the vegetarian dish. Lovely wine too.

The reason for our visit was a Post-Christmas meet up with relations. When we arrived we were advised by staff that they had no booking for us; after a 45 minute drive you can imagine how that went down. The Manager did kindly find a table for us - had we wanted to eat earlier than our 1230 slot that would not have been possible. It was fortunate too that we arrived 15 minutes early. The food was acceptable but took a long time to arrive. We ordered coffees which were totally forgotten about until we reminded the staff 20 minutes later; even then our specific orders were nit fulfilled. It seemed to us that the pub was totally understaffed and the management is not in control.
