An award-winning village pub, The Swan sits at the heart of the picture-perfect village of Southrop. Part of Thyme, an historic Cotswold estate, the menus celebrate the ingredients and flavours of the farm and kitchen garden, as well as using ingredients carefully sourced from local suppliers.

Locally distinct brews, wines and non-alcoholic drinks lead to an interesting drinks menu, with all the wines available by the glass, carafe or bottle and the house wine on tap. A blackboard bar menu ensures a country pub feel and the seasonal table menu has a good choice of simple, rustic dishes.

The Swan at Southrop is complete with traditional bar, low-ceilinged restaurant and further tables in a spacious garden room which opens to 2 courtyards. Sofas, open fires and a snug for more intimate dining create a charmingly rustic setting.

In idyllic Gloucestershire, The Swan is a quintessential English village pub on the Southrop Manor Estate.

Lovely pub, friendly staff, good food. Nice enclosed garden. Very dog friendly.

Overall good food and drink but service could definitely be improved.
They took a while to take our order and we had to chase this up and also one starter had to be chased up at the bar, starters not cleared before the main dishes arrived, no follow up to see if the food was ok during the main course.
It wasn’t particularly busy, I expected a better level of service and although we enjoyed the food and drink the poor service tainted the evening, I wouldn’t hurry back.

Excellent Service even though we were eating lunch at 1415 as planned and were clearly last order. Care taken to look after one of our party with significant dietary restrictions. Food excellent in presentation, choice and flavour

As usual excellent and great value for the high standard of food

Great service, warm atmosphere on a horrid cold day. Food delicious, all three courses were beautifully presented, delicate flavours. Who would have thought of pomegranate seeds with a Scotch egg - worked perfectly.

Fabulous meal - really excellent but relaxed service, and the food was exceptional, without being overly fussy. Starter of rillette went far beyond what you might imagine - wasn't stodgy and the addition of herbs (chervil?) lifted it beyond the usual. The main course of pheasant forestiere was delicious - a couple of beautifully cooked pieces of game on top of just the right amount of vegetables, fungi and delicious gravy (I should probably call it "jus"). Had no room for dessert, which was a shame! It's tucked away, but worth the journey from Burford, Lechlade - or just about anywhere within an hour's drive!

The Swan is in a very pretty village. We vowed to return again for lunch, so that we could explore the area in the daylight (maybe with a visit to the nearby spa). The pub is really well decorated and has a great atmosphere. The service was really attentive - not too much, just right and really friendly. The food was delicious, a really good choice of both meat and vegetarian dishes. My husband had wanted to try the Swan for ages and so we visited for his birthday. A great evening. Would recommend.

We love Sunday lunch at The Swan, it’s our favourite ‘go to’ place around Lechlade! The food is excellent and the staff are lovely.
