The swan has a lovely atmosphere and helpful friendly staff. Food is great but service can be a bit slow when they’re busy - its worth the wait though and we have been coming for about 10 years now.
You can also bring your dog too - they even have treats.

An award-winning village pub, The Swan sits at the heart of the picture-perfect village of Southrop. Part of Thyme, an historic Cotswold estate, the menus celebrate the ingredients and flavours of the farm and kitchen garden, as well as using ingredients carefully sourced from local suppliers.

Locally distinct brews, wines and non-alcoholic drinks lead to an interesting drinks menu, with all the wines available by the glass, carafe or bottle and the house wine on tap. A blackboard bar menu ensures a country pub feel and the seasonal table menu has a good choice of simple, rustic dishes.

The Swan at Southrop is complete with traditional bar, low-ceilinged restaurant and further tables in a spacious garden room which opens to 2 courtyards. Sofas, open fires and a snug for more intimate dining create a charmingly rustic setting.

In idyllic Gloucestershire, The Swan is a quintessential English village pub on the Southrop Manor Estate.

Seated by a roaring fire my wife and I settled on a traditional Sunday lunch of roast beef and it proved an excellent choice washed down with a glass of the house red. Lovely rare tender beef with all the trimmings. The pear tarte tatin to follow was just perfect served with a scoop of rich vanilla ice cream .
We are looking forward to an early return visit.

I have gluten and Lactose intolerances, which can make eating out an awkward experience, however the staff were very accommodating and adjusted my meal accordingly. The lamb was perfectly cooked. However we informed the restaurant when booking that it was our wedding anniversary. We were disappointed with our table position in the corner of a busy bar/dining area. I had seen different pictures of a dining room, which looked romantic, when I booked. At the end of our meal we were given a scoop of ice-cream on a plate decorated in chocolate with the words 'happy anniversary'. The gesture was appreciated but I was unable to partake.

We had booked a late sitting, although would have preferred an earlier slot which wasn't available - I was most impressed after calling earlier to request an earlier table that when we arrived at 2030 we were advised we could have a table straight away if required.
The menu sadly was a little disappointing in that there were few seasonal dishes available - being almost October I had hoped for possibly venison or wild boar and definitely some wild mushrooms. We plumped for the chicken pie for 2 which was delicious however. My dessert was a Blackberry Parfait which didn't quite hit the mark in my opinion - just clotted cream with a few dried up blackberries stirred in - definitely scope for a little more thought in the dessert department I think.
I will return as on previous visits I have found the menu choices and food to be excellent - perhaps a blip in the kitchen. Service was prompt.
