An idyllic spot overlooking Barnes' village pond, The Sun Inn is a gastro pub boasting a cosy vintage dining room, a leafy al fresco area and a manicured bowling green. Indoors, fresh flowers and colourful cushions are scattered across a backdrop of understated, weathered wood furnishings.

With a menu brimming with well-loved British classics, highlights at The Sun Inn include slow-roast pork shoulder with sweet potato chips, spinach, garlic & mustard sauce, gnocchi with wild mushrooms, roasted squash, spinach & cannellini beans, and handmade British cheese burger with bacon and chips. The tempting dessert menu features lemon & lime crumble tart with raspberry sorbet.

The well-stocked bar serves a list of 20 speciality draught beers, fine wines & spirits, and quiz nights are regularly hosted in the pub. Traditional roast is on the menu every Sunday, complete with fluffy Yorkshire pudding, tender meat and proper gravy.

The Sun Inn in Barnes is a 6-minute walk from Barnes Bridge Rail Station.

An excellent old fashioned gastro-pub even located next to the village pond/green.Very welcoming and especially dog friendly. We had booked a table for 4 for Sunday lunch. The friendly very professional manager greeted us and showed us to our reserved table which was ideal. The wine and roast lunch was amazing good value and delicious. The staff were lovely and carefully directed by the manager who kept an eye on the whole restaurant. A lovely afternoon spent on a chilly Guy Fawkes afternoon. We have had lunch there before and were not disappointed this time. We will be back when next in London.

The food was very good and not overly expensive. The staff were off and on - the manager lovely but some of bar staff acted as if they would rather be somewhere else and couldn't have been more hands off - which was a shame. Also we had just sat down when they put the next round of diner reservations on the table?! We felt very rushed by this. But can't fault the manager and restaurant staff or the food.

We tried the 3 starters for £14 deal. Between us we had 6 starters in total of which 4 were good. The chips with goats curd and gravy was awful and the duck rillette was ok. Scotch egg, squid, arancini and pardon peppers were lovely. Wine was quite expensive. Tiny glass was nearly £6.

This was a big disappointment. Was extremely busy with insufficient staff to cope. The staff worked very hard but were working under pressure to get the orders out.. Ordered Sunday lunch. Beef was very fatty,Yorkshire puddings were burnt, my friend asked for well done and got rare/medium, roast potatoes were hard and undercooked as was cauliflower cheese very runny with no taste of cheese, Kale was cold although they replaced with hot. I complained and they refunded the meals and apologised and gave us free desert and coffee. The Sun Inn has a nice ambience but won't be returning to eat. Another couple opposite our table complained about the meal too.
