Restaurant description

From Andrew Pern, the man behind the Michelin-starred pub The Star Inn at Harome, The Star Inn at The Harbour brings AA Rosette-awarded food to his hometown of Whitby.

The Star Inn at The Harbour's menus feature Catch-of-the-Day fish and meat specials and also world famous North Yorkshire Moors produce, such as furred and feathered game, as well as a seasonal All Day Menu.

Desserts include some childhood Ice Cream Parlour classics brought up to date. Surf 'n' Turf-style dishes are a restaurant speciality mirroring its 'one-foot-in-the-sea-one-foot-on-the-Moors' location.

Situated on the harbourside close to a number of carparks, The Star Inn at The Harbour sits straight opposite the train station

We met friends we hadn't seen for some time for long lunch. Although the tables nearby were occupied, there was enough space to feel neither intrusive nor intruded. This is an important feature given that so many restaurants place tables too close together, making entry and exit potentially problematic, and private conversations difficult or impossible. Our table particularly, was so shaped and arranged to feel a bit secluded - which is exactly what we wanted and what I'd requested. Food was delicious. Menu had variety, although when you live in the Midlands, there's really only one choice at the coast - wonderful fish and chips! Service was efficient and attentive but discreet. Decor and fittings are tasteful and appropriate. A lovely dining experience overall. We'll be back!
