Fabulous. Great tasty food, well prepare and well presented without being pretentious. Served by staff who were attentive but not intrusive. In an environment that was comfortable. And a fair price. Really can't recommend it enough.

The only negative was the limited option of soft drinks.

Highly recommend The Star. We booked the restaurant for an anniversary meal and certainly were not disappointed. The menu was seasonal had an excellent variety of dishes to choose from and the standard of food was very high.
I chose mackerel served with lemon, pomegranate, tomato and quinoa salsa with a guacamole and jalapeno sorbet. I could have easily had a larger portion of this as a main as it was simply delicious. For main I had the wagyu steak with didn't disappoint. The sticky toffee soufflé went down a treat and was so light.
The pub had a smart rustic feel to it and the staff were very pleasant and professional. It is excellent value for money.

As always great food at The Star. Chef Matt’s mackerel starter is one of my fave dishes in any restaurant.

Good quality food, although a little in the small side, portion-wise. Only one veggie option on the menu, I think (could be wrong on this).

We have lunched here several times over a period of nearly 10 years and never been disappointed. The cooking deserves credit for being accurate and showing imagination - it doesn't always quite work but full marks for the adventure. There is a sensible wine list giving good drinking. Service is friendly and efficient.

First class meal. Dined with friends. Great atmosphere. Small menu but many tempting choices. Amongst the four of us we had mostly different dishes giving us a good feel for the food. I had sweetcorn soup followed by beef rump and rib. I would not normally go for soup but it was quite delicious. Lovely touch with the curry oil, cumin seeds. Portions just right. Not too much and yet by the end of the meal pleasantly full. Many lovely touches to the food. Other super dishes include watermelon and Cashel blue cheese salad starter. Light and tasty. Heritage tomatoes with goats cheese cream. Homemade ham hock, petits pis and spring onion pie.
