Originally a picturesque farmhouse, The Star Inn in Kingsclere was built around 1847, and is now part of the village which is mostly a designated conservation area. These beautiful surroundings are perfect to enjoy with the traditional British pub cuisine, from the al fresco garden or by the cosy hearth-fire. It also features Chesterfield armchairs, old-fashioned plaques on the mantelpiece and other vintage trinkets.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Star Inn menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Star Inn ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.
In the village of Kingsclere, The Star Inn is just 15 minutes’ drive from Newbury.

It was a pleasant meal but the waiter dropped a bowl of peppers in olive oil over my lap. They did apologise but that's all we got. There was no discount on our meal or maybe a free round of drinks etc.

Waitress was very pleasant, that's it! How does a 8oz piece of beef have no flavour, same with my wife's hunters chicken,no flavour, maybe they need to source a new butcher, our dinner guests had the same complaints, one had steak, the other had ham, which had some weird crust on it.not a great experience for £85.

Very disappointed. We had to wait over an hour for our orders. Two orders stated "with side salad" which we didn't get. One order was wrong and had to go back. Some of the food was only just warm and the waitress could have been a bit more friendly. The waitress had to keep apologising the whole time. The desserts were very nice though. One guest saw a lot of dust especially on the light shade above the table.
