Once a noteworthy roadhouse built in the 19th century, The St George & Dragon, Exeter boasts well-loved British pub food in an idyllic location, both in the countryside and near the sea. Prizing its sense of homeliness, there is an Innkeeper’s Lodge, a warming hearth for winter and a pretty garden for al fresco dining.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The St George & Dragon menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The St George & Dragon ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.
The St George & Dragon is just 15 minutes’ walk from Topsham Train Station, or an 11-minute drive into Exeter.

We all enjoyed the evening in every respect. The service was very good. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. A relaxed birthday celebration for the family.

Excellent menu, reasonably priced. Friendly efficient staff. Really enjoyed the cod loin dish as did my wife. My elderly sister (a regular diner at the St George and Dragon likewise was very pleased with her hunters chicken.
