Restaurant description

On the site of the original Sandeman Port and Sherry Cellars, and situated beneath their fine-dining Restaurant is The Don’s wonderfully atmospheric Bistro where you can enjoy impeccably sourced British produce, and a world-beating array of well-priced wines, while enjoying the architectural delights of a fabulously restored historic building.

Take a seat in the atmospheric dining room and enjoy a selection of European bistro dishes, followed by a sweet treat from the dessert menu or a selection of 5 farmhouse cheeses.

The Don Bistro is a sibling of the famed Bleeding Restaurant, Bistro and Tavern in Farringdon, and is a 2-minute walk from Bank Tube Station.

Dishes displayed on a la carte menus are representative of the type of food available at the restaurant.

Excellent informal bistro in the City, ideal for meeting friends or colleagues as well as business meetings. We all had the set lunch - good value at £19.50 for 2 courses and food interesting and service efficient and friendlly. Waiter also recommended well priced wine .

We had a great meal at The Sign of the Don. The special offer was really good value - a glass of champagne and then three courses for £25. We all enjoyed our food a lot - portions were really good and everything was cooked well. And the service was very good too - attentive without being overbearing. Would definitely recommend.

Food and service quite poor unfortunately as reflected in the overall reviews. Food came out either boiling or lukewarm. Salmon salad starter was dreadful and pretty sure the main of beef brisket gave us the runs. Service started off well but derioreated - orders getting mixed up despite there only being one other small group dining. 50 percent off bottles of wine on a Friday softened the blow somewhat

The food and ambience were great, but sadly when the bill arrived we found we had been overcharged. This was resolved after some waiting, but it spoiled the evening to some extent.
