Refreshing guests with food and drink since the mid-1800s, The Shy Horse serves well-loved British pub cuisine in a countryside setting. With a pretty beer garden for al fresco dining in warmer climes, and a cosy hearth-fire for winter, The Shy Horse also values its classic and eye-catching whitewash stone and red slate exterior.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Shy Horse menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Shy Horse ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

Close to Chessington World of Adventure, The Shy Horse is just 4 minutes’ drive from the town of Chessington.

Best was the relationship- with the waitress, she was very caring about her customers.
I had a starter of mushrooms. Felt that the dish had spent a period of time under the lights as there was a skin on the sauce. The Venison and Beef casserole had very little meat in it. Although the flavour was great. My wife had so called Yorkshire Puddings. These were flat and were an insult to the name. Sorry I get into trouble about my comments on Yorkshires.
    Dessert was good.

Total disaster, unheated restaurant, mediocre food, poor service which ruined our festive meal with friends.

The service that we had from Chris was excellent. The only complaints that we had whas that to start off you had no draught beer left and then you had no roast chicken left the four ladies of my party then chose the chicken pie and although the pie came hot the vegetables where cold we pointed this out to Chris who ordered more vegetables but they took so long to come that the ladies had finished their pie's before they came. This is the first time that we where very disappointed with the meal, on this occasion I could not recommend the Shy Horse to my friends

My friend and I had the roast beef dinner. The Yorkshire puddings were a disappointment quite soggy and the dinner could have been hotter, but apart from that everything was fine. Very polite and attentive waiter. Would return again if not for a roast.
