Found within one of London’s most famous 5-star hotels, afternoon tea at The Savoy is served beneath a domed glass ceiling which floods this space with natural light, and a live pianist offering a calming musical accompaniment.
A long-time member of the benchmark-setting Tea Guild, The Savoy’s afternoon tea is meticulously crafted in-house by Executive Pastry Chef, Daniel Pearse. Enjoy a stand of finger sandwiches and homemade scones served with clotted cream, and strawberry jam made to a treasured Savoy recipe. To follow, a range of delicious seasonal-themed cakes and pastries are served tableside from a silver platter.
Rare teas sourced from China, India, Sri Lanka and Iran are served in the finest polished silverware and delicate china tea ware, while flutes of chilled champagne can be selected for an extra-indulgent afternoon tea in London. Guests can also visit the on-site patisserie, where a menagerie of sweet treats are served alongside chocolates crafted by in-house chocolatiers.
One of the capital’s most celebrated afternoon tea experiences, The Savoy on the Strand sits 5 minutes’ walk from Charing Cross station.

The service was great and the teas were sublime but the quality of the sandwiches were poorly mediocre

Beautiful setting, some great tea selections but typically starts with lots of sandwiches which fills you up and not that many choices of cakes. The clotted cream was not the type that is soft and melt in your mouth like the one that I had tasted in Bath. For the price one has to pay, nothing really to rave about.

This place is amazing we booked for our friends 65th Birthday and it did not disappoint , service was top notch , food and tea out of this world , each dish that was brought to our table was explained and so many black teas to have , we went with option our waiter advise .... excellent choice , was able to take home our uneaten cakes as very rich and filling , and we had a lovely man playing piano , will come back for a special event

Had a truly special afternoon for a friend’s big birthday. The sandwiches were delicious, and especially so since a few changes were made for my friend who doesn’t like cheese. (With no question and very kindly.) We had seconds! Scrummy scones and cream, homemade jam and lemon curd. We boxed up quite a few of the cakes and pastries to take home - not sure if it was the tea (poured for us) or the champagne, but we could not eat it all! The pianist was wonderful too

Very attentive staff. Sandwich bread a bit dry. Beef was pinker than I prefer, I did try but it was tough and I was unable to eat it.

Setting exceptional. Lady who greeted us was a bit cool but Enzo and Lewis were outstanding. Our booking was for 17.15 and we had to wait, with no explanation, for 5-10 minutes for our table. Loved the atmosphere, specifically the piano player. Sandwiches were amazing. Quiche delicious. Cakes mediocre to be honest, I have had better. This could partly be because we had cakes with no nuts? I registered my sisters nut intolerance prior to our visit and my details were confirmed as noted, but they still brought out cakes including nuts. They took them all away when we mentioned the nut intolerance ( I don’t feel like a reminder should have been necessary!) and we waited, far too long, for replacements. Luckily we had our scones, which were sublime. New cakes were brought out (don’t know why all cakes provided were nut free as only one of us had the intolerance) and we enjoyed the remainder of our experience. Final note, loved the ‘birthday cake’ they brought for my sister, lovely touch. I cannot give a five for the overall experience as it was not exceptional, as it should be, for the money paid and the tradition of the venue.

The service at the Savoy was incredible. Great setting and staff made you feel very welcome. I was however very disappointed with the food. The presentation was great but the cakes and sandwiches were mediocre. For an afternoon of indulgence it was not worth the calories and we left so much food behind. Would not recommend for afternoon tea have certainly had much better for the price.
