Bright airy restaurant and attentive staff , set in a very pretty location. The food is great and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Once again, great cooking and very enjoyable. My ‘go to’ choice for Sunday Lunch.

With 2 AA Rosettes to its name, The Samuel Fox Country Inn serves modern interpretations of British classics. Having worked under several Michelin-starred chefs, head chef James Duckett has brought his creative cooking to this homely country pub.

The Samuel Fox menu is packed with flavoursome dishes that are exquisitely presented and crafted using fresh, local ingredients. Expect rich flavour combinations like pan-fried duck breast with celeriac, hazelnut and pickled red cabbage, hake with clam casserole, or pot roast guinea fowl with autumn vegetables, sage and cider. Desserts are inspired by pub favourites and include sticky toffee pudding with stout ice cream, and white chocolate custard with passion fruit.

An excellent wine menu complements the food at the Samuel Fox, many available by the glass whilst locally brewed real ales are also available. The linked bar and restaurant areas provide a warm and comfortable atmosphere, with large windows offering views over the stunning Peak District countryside.

The Samuel Fox near Bradwell is situated in the picturesque Hope Valley, at the heart of the Peak District National Park yet just 15 miles from the centre of Sheffield.

There was a lack of atmosphere on a Thursday night the restaurant was very quite and the table next to us was empty and covered in crumbs. The lighting was very bright. Only one waiter so service was a bit slow but OK. Food was good but expensive. 2 courses for £29.00. It would be interesting to see the price breakdown between the 2 courses. I had the sprats which comprised about 5 and tasteless alioli. No wine glasses on the table. 2

Brilliant as always - our once a year "office Christmas party" treat.
The butternut squash salad was amazing.

My wife and I always enjoy travelling to the Peak District for Sunday lunch and this was our first visit to The Samuel Fox, and we were not disappointed.
Excellent Sunday lunch, great service from a very friendly and welcoming staff. The beef dinner, which we both had, was just fabulous - Thank you.

Booked for Sunday lunch to celebrate my son's birthday. We were first there and had the option of having a drink first or sitting at the table straight away. We chose the latter. The lunch menu had about four choices for each course, all of which looked appealing. We were all pleased with the quality of our choices when they came. Food presentation was good, service was friendly and efficient and we very much enjoyed our meal.

Menu was varied and well described, choice on the number of courses.
Table spacing was great, not elbow to elbow with next table.
Warmly welcomed by the host who showed that we were expected an he knew which table we were to be seated at.
Pleasant but professional waiting staff who were attentive.
We were very impressed with the quality of the dishes, cooked to perfection with both served hot & fresh at the same time.
Well priced for the quality of food and the surroundings.

I cant think of anything to criticise

    Will definitely visit again.

Truely excellent. If I go to a good resturaunt, this is how I expect it to be. The food was well presented, hot which is very important to me and tasted sublime.
The menu was well thought out and a lot time and effort has gone in to sourcing the right ingredience.

Fine dining, without being pretentious. We both had the curried parsnip and corriander soup, for starters, which was devine. We both also chose the belly pork for our main, which again was sublime, so tender and tasty, accompanied with a pork and sage croquette, cabbage, celeriac and apple. Couldn't fault it, and the presentation was equally first rate. Service was also excellent, from the friendly welcome through the whole service. We will definitely be revisiting this little gem! Thank you The Samuel Fox.
