Staff are always very pleasant
Its an extensive menu - tried the Sunday roast this time. Its always satisfying , though maybe not 5 star quality - Good gastro grub

Housed in a restored Georgian building opposite Edinburgh University’s main halls of residence, The Salisbury Arms is a pub & restaurant with a beer garden for sun-soaked dining in the warmer months. With vaulted ceilings, cream-coloured walls & deep sofas & armchairs by the fireplace, it is a homely hideaway serving hearty British cuisine.

Sourcing ingredients from trusted local suppliers, The Salisbury Arms menu features wholesome recipes based around the garden, land and sea. Sample hand-pressed burgers, beef & ale pie with cardamom carrots, or sea bass with potato gnocchi, while old-school puddings include warming crumbles, custard-lathered sponges and decadent brownies. Not forgetting younger diners, a kids’ menu includes miniature versions of British classics.

A partnership with the celebrated Rothschild wine merchants means The Salisbury Arms cellar is stocked full with an eclectic list of world wines, while indulgent wine flights allow guests to sample a variety of bins. Seasonal beers and barrel-kept ales also feature, as well as thirst-quenching cocktails and rich coffees.

The Salisbury Arms in Edinburgh is a 5-minute drive from Edinburgh Rail Station.

Venue chosen due to the variety of the menu as my wife is vegetarian, my daughter is vegan and i myself enjoy all food but even though there are numerous choices in Edinburgh the Salisbury Arms catered for all three of us without compromise.
All the food choices that were made were excellent and all there preferences were catered for.

We went for Father’s Day and there was a set menu. Good choices and good quality of food. Excellent value for money. Catered for gluten free well including offering a sticky toffee pudding where another option had run out. Very rare to get this kind of offer! Very nice atmosphere and well decorated so will definitely be back.

Attentiveness and friendly attitude of the staff was fab. There wasn’t anyone in the company of 8 had a bad word to say about the food. The beer garden has a very relaxed atmosphere and was perfect for pre dinner drinks. Well done.

I have just moved into this district and so the Salisbury Arms could be my local. I have already dined twice and have enjoyed the food very much. The place was friendly and seemed to suit all types of groups, families, business etc.

If like myself who might like to chat to friends, if there was a quieter place in the restaurant, it might serve better.

Food service was very rushed. We ordered at the bar and our starters arrived within 3 or 4 minutes of ordering - way too quickly. Whilst one starter was cold the other was a hot starter so this seemed too quick even though place was almost empty. My main fishcakes were lovely and crispy on the outside but only warm inside.

I feel the rushed food service would account for the fishcakes not being hot enough. Am not convinced that my dining companions mushroom starter was hot either - unless the topping had been microwaved.

Admittedly I didn't complain' about the fishcakes so did not give you an opportunity to resolve. Am sure you would have but I didn't have the energy! The whole place was almost empty when we arrived but I wonder if there was a desire to rush us through before the pub quiz as it got extremely busy later on!?

Aside from above the staff were very friendly but this is the second time in a row I have been a bit disappointed with your food service.
