With rustic beach shack style and a packed menu of Caribbean flavours, The Rum Shack Carnaby feels like a tropical little escape right in the heart of Soho. As well as jerk chicken specialities, there is a huge cocktail menu that makes use of the great selection of imported rums.

The Rum Kitchen menu pulls together all the Caribbean favourites, with plenty of colour and spice. Nibble on jerk wings, island-spiced fried squid and sweetcorn fritters, before moving on to signature jerk chicken served with additions like gravy, sweet potato mash and pineapple. There are towering burgers, and larger plates with mouthwatering flavours like red snapper, West Indian veg curry, and shredded salads with exotic fruits.

A massive selection of imported rums are served from the bar at The Rum Kitchen in Soho, which go into the celebrated cocktail list filled with signature creations. There are also beers from Jamaica and Barbados, and plenty of soft drinks too.

Also pumping out a brilliant reggae soundtrack, The Rum Kitchen Carnaby is a popular Caribbean restaurant in London that is 6 minutes' walk from Oxford Circus Tube Station.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Rum Kitchen. Food was so yummy (salt fish fritters and Fish burger both soooo good) and fab cocktails. As an island girl myself i was not disappointed.

Nice place and we were greeted very nicely but agree the music is loud for when your dining with friends. with regards to the food We had a range of starters but the one we didn't like much was the saltfish and corn fritters, too much dough! So not much flavour so please rethink that receipe. it was also over cooked. The squid, jerk prawn and jerk wings were lovely. Our mains was very nice too between the 6 x of us we had the jerk chicken bowls, mutton (few more pieces of meat please and a bit more curry) and jerk pork. My friend with the jerk pork felt it could have been seasoned better so thought it was just ok. All us others enjoyed our food. Our Happy Hour drinks could have definitely done with more drink and rum less ice!! And the staff did a nice pudding with hot rum for our friend who was celebrating her 60th! We did spend quite a while there and to finish off we ended up in the bar to raise a glass to a dear friend we'd lost last year it was her birthday in the week. But two members of the bar staff did get a bit rude with two members of our group which was a shame as it was a good experience up till then but we all agreed we'd go back again. it would be nice if they didn't add a 'suggested' tip on the bill though that is a bit cheeky! ooh waitresses an waiter were very nice , one young lady was a bit curt mind you....

    Excellent food and lovely atmosphere.
Service was a bit slow to get served and to get our bill. We seemed to be forgotten by our waitress, distracted by other tables.
FEmale toilets were out of order so we ALL had to use the male ones, with only 2 cubicle open.
    It was very cold.

My overall experience was good at the Rum Kitchen. The food was very nice, the feel and vibe of the restaurant was good. The weather was great that day and the restaurant complements that was big open windows and great music.

Love the round tables in the rear of the restaurant. The curry mutton was also great.

Something only very slightly was lacking in service but they’d just opened so I’m not complaining too much.

Food great as always, service staff was very friendly and quite swift. But for a Saturday early evening at 18:15 the music was way too loud. Quite annoying as you could hardly make conversation. Shame as I loved everything else.
