Restaurant description

Formerly 2 Italian restaurants, a tea shop and a wine bar, The Roundhay Fox combines the best of its heritage in a British pub which serves excellent traditional pub cuisine. Featuring a classic Yorkshire stone design inside and out, you can enjoy the food by the crackling log-fire, or in the al fresco garden for outdoor dining.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Roundhay Fox menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Roundhay Fox ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

In the small Leeds surburb of Roundhay, the city centre is just 10 minutes’ drive away.

We have been to this resteraunt before & had an enjoyable meal but this time the place was dirty, the service slow & my choice from the menu was really disappointing. I chose Hunter's Chicken. The chicken was dry & the bacon on the top must have been 80%fat. The surrounding tables had food on the floor beneath & the toilets were a real mess & badly in need of cleaning. May friends seemed to enjoy their steaks, though one of them did comment about grissle in their steak. On the plus side the staff were very pleasnat & I didn't tackle them about my concerns, as I didn't want to spoil the evening for my family & friends.

Wanted simple pub lunch with drinks. Restaurant too busy for staff to cope and big wait on food, two of the dishes run out.

The food was lovely. Peaceful ambience. Nice building with adjacent park. There were some delays and missed orders because of inadequate staffing levels.

nice food but poor service and added different items to bill that was not ordered resulting in a £20.00 increase there was minimal diners in the pub however it took 45 minutes for starters to arrive (all were cold), the waitress came over twice to confirm how many prawn cocktails were on the order, when these came out one had mass amounts of prawns on wear as the other only had a few on. after this we were waiting for mains to arrive (no problems with these) after this we were waiting a further 40 minutes for deserts to arrive, one of these had to be sent back as stout cake with shandy ice cream was ordered, they bought the ice cream and forgot the cake. when we asked for the bill they had replaced the prawn cocktail with 2 orders of scallop and prawn and two meal deals which were ordered were not added to the bill resulting in over £20 been added to the bill

The service was excellent. Our waiter couldn't do enough for us, but the service did not make up for the fact that the steak was tough. Such a pity, as everything else was fine.

Apart from our lead waitress service seemed uncoordinated with 1 meal in every course arriving several minutes after the rest. The staff seemed harassed and did not know which food was for what table. Food was average except for the puddings which where bloody massive by comparison to starters and mains. Next time I'm just ordering a pudding. In their defence they may have been struggling with the special Mother's Day menu but from what I saw on other tables it wasn't just us that had issues.

Everythiing was good except for the service. Our waitress aas offhand with us throughout the meal. She totally forgot to bring one of our parties drink. After 20 mins we asked and it came, no apology. She spoke so quickly when giving the choices of steak sauces it came out as garbled, we asked her to reoeat the choices she looked anoyed and garbled out the chioces again, so we didn't bother. We had to catch her attention to ask her to order both our main and sweet courses. The puddings took about 25 minutes to come the restaurant was nearly empty by then. She never smiled once and didn't ask us if our meals were ok or aplogise for forgetting to bring the drink or the time it took for us to recieve the puddings. I feel awful writing this as I usually enjoy giving praise. But you have asked for feedback and this reflects our experience. All 4 of us were of the same opinion.

Not great, poor service and food is very mediocre, I had to send mine back as my potatoes weren't cooked.

Service was quick and friendly. However meat was tough and carrots undercooked. Cauliflower cheese did not taste of cheese. On the menu it said a jug of gravy but it came already poured. A bit disappointed as we have been several times and meals were good. This is the first time coming for Sunday lunch and sadly will be the last. The ratings are based on Sunday lunch.
