Amid the splendour of the 5-star Sofitel London St James Hotel, The Rose Lounge shares the hotel’s blend of English tradition and classic French style. This Grade II listed former city bank provides the opulent backdrop for a rose-tinted Afternoon Tea experience in soothing surroundings.

Plump, plush sofas in warm pink denote The Rose Lounge’s unmistakable feminine style, while the French influence is apparent in the delicate tapestries lining the room. A fine range of teas pour from fine china pots, complementing delightful Parisienne pastries.

Tempting cakes and dainty cut sandwiches hallmark the suitably elegant Rose Lounge menu. Fresh fragrant roses and the subtle strains of a harp among its sensory signatures, The Rose Lounge in London offers an intimate atmosphere to enjoy this most civilised of British traditions.

Afternoon Tea at The Rose Lounge oozes the sophistication of one of the capital’s most prestigious addresses. A short stroll from Trafalgar Square and Bond Street, The Rose Lounge at Sofitel London St James is a 2-minute walk from Piccadilly Circus Tube Station.

I love coming here for afternoon tea. It's such a cosy, relaxing lounge and the soft music in the background by the harpist completed the luxurious ambience. The food is plentiful and I recommend the free flow option.

We had the endless champagne option and it was brilliant. Service was as expected from the Sofitel - Faultless. Left there full up and bit wobbly.

Beautiful setting, and food was very nice. Only downside is they didn't have anything less than Champagne (cheapest at £75) which feels a bit elitist to me. Sandwiches were fine, but egg mayo tasted very strange to me! Scones were wonderful, as were the pastry but could have done with some 'old favorites' as they were all quite niche meaning quite a few were left and the rest fort over! Good value for money though. Service very slow but polite, patient and friendly.

What a wonderful experience. the atmosphere was beautiful, the tea and sandwiches were delicious and the staff extremely pleasant. I've only been to London twice and both times had a lovely afternoon tea at the Rose Lounge.

We thoroughly enjoyed afternoon tea at the Sofitel St James, which we had in the Rose Lounge. The service and decor were excellent and the food was very good. We chose the 'free flowing champagne' and it really did just keep coming!

I loved it. Great service food was really nice. Atmosphere lovely. A harpist played at about 3 in the afternoon which added to the great mood. Great value for money

The location of the hotel is great, just within a walking distance from Piccadilly Circus. The Rose Lounge looks lovely with sofas and comfortable chairs, There is a harpist playing for the added ambiance. However, I have visited quite a few locations in London for an afternoon tea and this one left me feeling disappointed. The service was almost non existent: we were asked once if everything was alright and after that left to our own devices. Our teas were getting cold and only when one of us asked for hot water, a waiter came by. We had four sandwiches each, there were no extras. After scones we were allowed to choose a cake from a vitrine, one for each of us. Maybe I have been spoiled with the previous afternoon tea experiences but I have always gone home feeling happy and full. This time I went back home and had a proper supper.
