A Grade II-listed Georgian mansion house, Mote House is home to the Romney Restaurant which looks out onto the 450 acres of parkland which surround the building. Using locally sourced ingredients, the restaurant serves lunch, dinner, light bites and a classic Kentish afternoon tea.

Sumptuous mains on the Romney Restaurant menu include roast chicken breast with a mushroom and thyme sauce, Kentish bramley apple-stuffed pork loin, and wild mushroom ravioli with a creamy white wine sauce. Sunday lunch is also a firm favourite, offering quality meats, fresh vegetables and a choice of indulgent desserts.

Afternoon tea at Mote House features a selection of homemade sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, and an array of sweet treats including Eton mess and macarons. Extra indulgence can be added with a glass of champagne.

Blending the elegance of this Georgian home and picturesque grounds with bright, contemporary interiors, Romney Restaurant at Mote House sits in Mote Park, just 10 muntes’ drive from the centre of Maidstone. Please note that as the Romney Bistro & Restaurant are set within the Audley Mote House retirement village, this venue is not suitable for anybody aged 12 or under.

A lovely setting with beautiful views . Comfortable seating , lovely armchairs. Admitinly we had the last booking ,the kitchen was closing in 30mins. after we arrived, so we did feel a little rushed. The waitress was very pleasant . The manager was not so pleasant . The food was ok the crispy roast potatoes were not very crispy. I probably won't go there again.

Lovely setting, good food, reasonably price, lovely friendly staff. Being within a luxury retirement village a number of the guests were residents so just be conscious if booking with children as not suitable for the more enthusiastic of
    Families

Lovely place, it felt grand and special. So different to other tea rooms. Only let down was, once we found the country park it was impossible to find the Romney Restaurant. We had to phone them twice for directions.

Afternoon Tea with my daughter for her birthday. Lovely setting, food nice, maybe more tea or coffee refills could be included. Booking was easy online.

I had a lovely Afternoon Tea at this beautiful, tranquil venue. I was really impressed with both the decor inside and the views outside. I was served very quickly and without any hassle. The only downside I can think of was that I didn't get offered different types of tea, I just got given the standard sort. It would have been nice to have had a few options!
