I booked afternoon tea for a Mum and daughter treat.
Our waitress was delightful and guided us through a lovely couple of hours.
The choice of teas were great and we tried quite a few. We also treated ourselves to prosecco and our glasses were topped up politely throughout.
The sandwiches and pastries were lovely but for me it was the teas that I enjoyed the most.

We were all very happy with our experience. Service was very attentive and prosecco was vet free flowing.

A friend and I came to the Mandolay on 15/7/17 for an afternoon tea and generally this was enjoyable, the selection of teas available were particularly impressive. However there were a few situations that occurred that detracted from my enjoyment. Firstly when we arrived my booking couldn't be found, it turns out that my name had incorrectly been listed as 'Anne Gough' so I had to convince the waitress, that, that was me it had clearly just been written down wrongly. Then when our sandwiches arrived, one of the flavours was salmon, I mentioned twice when making the booking that both me and my friend are vegetarians so we would appreciate it if no meat could be served. When I asked the waitress whether we could have a replacement flavour, she replied saying that I should have said during the booking that we didn't eat fish - as mentioned during the booking process I said twice that we were vegetarians not pescetarians (vegetarians who eat fish) and had to explain that fish still counts as meat. The waitress said that as the restaurant was getting busy she'd have to ask the chef whether any more sandwiches could be made, I do appreciate that it was getting busy but we were hardly asking for something elaborate! Thankfully this was rectified and new sandwiches were delivered but not before another waitress who gave us the replacements, again argued that I should have said something when booking. Going forward I would suggest that if a customer states they are a vegetarian you assume that they won't eat fish, like most restaurants do, or you advise staff when taking a booking to clarify whether the customer eats fish or not. Once rectified the sandwiches and the cakes were very nice. When leaving the restaurant, our waitress asked whether we had a voucher for payment, when I said that I had already paid, she couldn't find a record of my payment, it turns out my name had been listed correctly this time which caused more confusion! General no attention to detail.

Very disappointed. Food was average for an afternoon tea. Was supposed to be free flowing prosecco we had to ask every time to fill our glasses. It was about 15-20 minutes after arriving before we got prosecco Staff kept away and avoided us. We had 3 glasses then gave us a fourth as we complained. Staff not very friendly. I've been to other afternoon tea with free flowing drink and that is exactly what you got. Glass was topped up S soon as you had drunk half and you didn't have to ask. It was a shame. Also toilets were not clean and one was blocked. I am going again with 5 others in August think they will be very disappointed

Excellent visit for afternoon tea for my daughters birthday. Service was friendly and attentive. Had to ask for spoons for the jam and mousse. Disappointed that there were more fruit teas than proper leaf teas to choose from. Good value, surprisingly quiet, as another venue I tried just outside Guildford was fully booked.
