The restaurant was clean and nicely furnished. The bench seating was a little low for the height of the table. The seats on the other side of the table were probably the correct height.
The soup was excellent and the salmon starter was good with generous portions.
The steak was adequate but not exciting. Chips were described as Jenga but were not neat Jenga shapes. Why use the word Jenga if not able to stack them in oblongs?
The dessert was tasty but each was a very small portion.
Coffee was good and the restaurant could provide decaf tea.
Service was OK. However someone had rung from bookings to check we were coming and noted that one of our party was celebrating their birthday and i assumed they would recognise the birthday. During the meal a waitress came and mentioned the birthday but that was all. After we had asked for the bill I mentioned discretely about the birthday and the waiter was very apologetic and went speedily to get something. It was just a bit clumsy and would have been better with the coffee. I suspect that poor communication was responsible for the oversight as the restaurant was clearly able to provide a birthday experience when reminded.

It's a great location and the interior of the hotel is impressive, The food was lovely (especially the deserts). and good value for the money we paid, although the menu did limit us to only 3 choices for each course - but this did include vegetarian options although sadly not cheese to finish. Our table waiter was lovely. They couldn't locate our booking at first and the reception staff were coolly helpful. A bit too cool really. Afternoon tea was going on in the courtyard with excitable children not getting much parental supervision - I wouldn't have wanted to be out there at the same time (I've got kids, I'm not just being miserable).

Nice dining room, good people watching. Food ok for a set menu although steak was tough. Service friendly if a bit slow.

Overall, we enjoyed the food and the ambience. We were slightly irritated by a group of diners who appear to have arranged to meet in the dining area rather than the bar. That would have been okay if they had actually sat at their table.....instead they stood close to our table chatting until the full compliment of diners had arrived.

Very disappointed with dining experience. Starter and main were fine. My dessert banoffee twist was very disappointing. The brandy basket was a very mini-basket and the plate seemed to be lacking any substance. The restaurant was very canteen style and the seating not very relaxing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Sadly I would not recommend this restaurant to friends.

The food was extremely overpriced for the given quality. We had the £28 menu, and the salmon, the steak and cod were no better than from a Tesco. The cocktail hardly had alcohol, but tons of sugar. It's the first time I see 15% service charge and didn't feel deserved.
