Food absolutely beautiful but TINY portions. Really small helpings of veg/potatoes. Ordered a side of chips which cost £3.50, i was shocked when the waiter brought me EIGHT chips. Staff are friendly, polite, attentive.

Great setting and service was good generally. However 5 out of our party of 6 had the steak and all 5 of us found the steaks really tuff and hard to cut. Mentioned this to the head waiter/front of house and he said he would pass this onto the chef as they had changed supplier recently..... and that was it. I left at least a quarter of my steak as it become wearing to eat. I think I was expecting some sort of apology? Or some goodwill gesture perhaps? But no. Then we were hit with a 12.5% service charge (discretionary I know) of £40 + which did not go down so well. To be fair it was not the waiter staff that were to blame for the sub standard steaks, and we still left a tip, but felt this was awkward. There was also a mistake on the bill at the end, and they forgot my coffee which when prompted they did bring a cappuccino..... although I had asked for a Latte... twice! I had gone passed sending this back as it was fine and I drunk it. As this was a treat for my mothers birthday you could say we were disappointed, but we still had a good evening overall, we just wouldn’t rush back anytime soon.

Food was beautifully cooked and presented. The scallops were tender and flavoursome. If I had any criticism to make it would be that the portion size is a bit small.

We had a lovely afernoon at Charlton House, staff were very obliging and nothing to much trouble. We very much enjoyed your new afternoon tea menu, the open sandwiches were lovely and a great seletion of cakes. We will come again soon.

It was a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and the food was wonderful so much so I booked to go again as soon as I returned home.

My partner and I dined at the restaurant whilst staying at the hotel and had a 2 course dinner. I was disappointed in the lack of vegetarian options (only 2 options for both starters and mains). My starter (battered cauliflower) was very dry, with only the tiniest scraping of sauce. My main (nut roast) was dry and tasteless. My partner however had meat dishes and enjoyed his. I wouldn’t return to the restaurant unless their menu was updated as I wouldn’t order these dishes again and I didn’t like the other vegetarian option. The restaurant in itself was beautifully laid out, the waiter was very pleasant and attentive. The drinks were very expensive, I feel that there could’ve been at least one cheaper option for wine than they currently have.
