Nestled in lush Northamptonshire countryside, The Red Lion Northampton serves hearty British cuisine with a modern touch. A snug hideaway, the rustic charm of exposed brickwork and crackling open fires is offset by modern flourishes.

A classic selection from The Red Lion menu offers a refined take on comfort food. Classic bistro dishes are offset by sumptuous sharing platters, from a loaded charcuterie board, to roast duck with sweet potato dauphinoise and Grand Marnier sauce. Complementing the a la carte range, experimental specials and fresh fish dishes offer an alternative taste.

Plush leather benches and a wealthy wine stock evoke a sophisticated yet infinitely laidback ambience at The Red Lion Brafield-on-the-Green. Family-friendly The Red Lion restaurant also serves up a fun kids’ selection.

The Red Lion blends a lively pub welcome and timeless style. Central Northampton is around 10 minutes’ drive away.

The pub was very very busy and as we were taken to our seats we heard that a party of 33 had just got there so I was expecting a delay on our food. The waiting staff were very attentive and we actually commented on how quickly the food came out. We were very boring and had the same meals in the end. For start we had a scotch egg, I was a little disappointed that the yolk wasn't at al runny, but the rest was delicious. We also had some pork scratching with apple sauce we were really good. We both had the burger after which was great, however I wish I had ordered thrice cooked chips as the skinny fries it came with were a bit soggy and disappointing. I really didn't need a dessert, but I can never say no, so we shared a chocolate and salted caramel pot with shortbread. This could have done with having less pot and more shortbread as was very large and I couldn't finish it. Drinks were great and I would most definitely return, we were celebrating our 8th Anniversary and had a great night.

Delicious food with excellent service. Recommend the crayfish and avocado starter – and the herb calves liver was as tender as spongecake! We will be back

Helpful staff, quick service. Food and presentation good. Had the tuna steak , very enjoyable but served on rather a lot of leaves.

Food excellent - service excellent - menu caters for all tastes - possibly a bit expensive (my wife had one of the fish dishes and the fish portion was very small made up by lots of potatoes -so not great value - but very tasty she said) I had the Flat Iron Steak and my mother Pork Roast both excellent. My daughter loves the Scampi and Chips. Desserts very nice but again, very expensive (except for the ice cream which was great value for money)

Lovely meal at The Red Lion, great choice and good service. Just a pity they didn't have a container for my daughters dessert that she couldn't manage so she could enjoy it again today ??. My husband said it was the best dessert he had had for ages and that is high praise indeed!

Lovely location & friendly atmosphere. The food was very good, but front of house seems to have too many staff standing around some doing nothing & some very busy! So you wouldn't expect them to forget a side dish, & have to be reminded. The restaurant manager (the tall chap) didn't seem interested in his clients, rather walk from till to bar turning silver trays around. Not sure what he contributed! Overall it was a lovely lunch.
