Excellent food and excellent waiter service - just disappointed there was no specials board.

The food was good, the service was very slow and not interactive ( not a great deal of checking were we ok) waited an hour before main course arrived ( only one of four had a starter but feel that this could have been managed better) then another hour before the dessert. Didn't bother with coffe as felt sat long enough. There were at least five tables not being used so wonder what would happen if full. Had had a fabulous meal there two weeks earlier, which is why we were there, but in comparison with the first time it fell far short of expectations. The green veg was lukewarm and not as well presented, ( normally in small containers), as before although potatoes were in a pot, equally lukewarm) I thought they had run out of dishes. It is a pity because I have already been enthusiastic to some friends and will now have to modify my commendation. The dessert was lovely.

A bit of a disappointment: 1) No lamb left by 3 pm 2 Mother's Day duck menu was strange - sweet waffle rather than potato ? and then with pineapple ! Service was a little slow (perhaps to be expected on Mother's day) but staff were very cheerful.

Upon arrival very impressed, menu looked fab but however thinks soon changed when they mucked up the service/order on nx table, I ordered a glass of champagne, upon arrival n after I tasted it, it was processco, asked the waitress why, n she said we don't do champagne by glass but menu states they do. No apologies she didn't say when we ordered n jus gave me something different n charged me for it, later that evening asked another waitress for champagne n y does the menu offer it if u don't do it? She said they do n got me a glass. We order all 3 course, my main was a salad/salmon, n waitress said is that all then? In a not so approving tone. Asked for bread n she said they don't do bread even though table nx to us had it. Brought out main b4 taking away starter.

I dine here quite regularly, but on this occasion the food was not up to its usual standard,and the service was very poor. Rather a shame as i had taken a guest with me which i had recomended the restaurant too.

Fantastic service and a really great Valentines menu. We regularly eat at the Red Lion and were pleasantly surprised at how they had up'd the experience for Valentines dinner! I would recommend their food and great service to everyone!
