Housed in a lodge dating back to 1650 and boasting a large beer garden for sun-drenched dining in summer, The Rams Head is a traditional pub & restaurant in the village of Disley. Inside, peaked arches & wooden ceiling beams inspire architectural interest, and there are plenty of soft armchairs by the fireplaces to cosy up and enjoy a hearty modern British meal.

Sourcing ingredients from trusted local suppliers, The Rams Head menu features wholesome recipes based around the garden, land and sea. Sample hand-pressed burgers, beef & ale pie with cardamom carrots, or sea bass with potato gnocchi, while old-school puddings include warming crumbles, custard-lathered sponges and decadent brownies. Not forgetting younger diners, a kids’ menu includes miniature versions of British classics.

A partnership with the celebrated Rothschild wine merchants means The Rams Head cellar is stocked full with an eclectic list of world wines, while indulgent wine flights allow guests to sample a variety of bins. Seasonal beers and barrel-kept ales also feature, as well as thirst-quenching cocktails and rich coffees.

The Rams Head in Stockport is a 2-minute walk from Disley Rail Station.

Really cosy pub/restaurant with open fires, very family friendly and great for walkers given proximity to train station and Lyme Park. Loved the food, plenty of pub classics and slightly more unusual options available.

The Ram's Head was excellent, a wide menu with plenty of vegetarian options, prompt service, very welcoming.

Very poor. Whilst the main meals were OK, the Sunday roasts were dry and the beef was very fatty. Mustard was brought as we were finishing our meals and we had to chase up drinks and the bill.

More of a concern was that we weren't asked once if our meals were OK. It was a case of "are you done?". And hence this is my first opportunity to leave a review. The staff are very young and I understand it is possibly under new management. This should not excuse the service or food - it's not a cheap meal (£13.95 for a trio of roasts).

They also charged us for an extra dessert, so we didn't even leave a tip.

I certainly won't be venturing here for quite some time - you're much better heading down the A6 one mile to the Red Lion.
