Housed within a beautiful Tudor building and retaining some of its original features, The Ramblers Rest is a gastro pub with an al fresco dining area, serving modern British food in a country-style setting. The lively bar area with its exposed brick walls, wooden beams & an open fireplace, offers a homey setting for guests to enjoy a drink.
With chefs given the opportunity to train at cookery schools in Spain and Italy, The Ramblers Rest menu features modern signature recipes made using the finest available ingredients. As well as creative daily-changing specials, favourites include king prawn, crab and chorizo linguine, or spit-roasted chicken with lemon & garlic confit. A kids’ menu and Sunday roasts also feature, and desserts include rich vanilla and chocolate gelato with home-baked cookies.
The result of a treasured partnership with Rothschild wine merchants, the cellar showcases many fine wines, while token real ales and premium spirits are found at The Ramblers Rest bar. Nostalgic British nibbles and eclectic sharing platters bursting with international flavours offer more laidback dining.
The Ramblers Rest in Surrey is a 12-minute drive from Chipstead Railway Station.

The food was lovely. Really recommend the halloumi. It's always very busy on a Sunday but the wait for food was very long this weekend. Waited an hour for our mains after a shared starter. I recommend booking a table in advance.

Food very good, but service a bit slow. Took quite some time for our food order to be taken after we arrived

This is about the 4th time I've been here - and whereas I haven't previously experienced a problem - this time I could the service to be terribly slow. We'd booked for my wife's birthday on Sunday, and as we have a 10-year old we'd reserved a table at 6.00pm. The starters weren't delivered until about 6.35pm and the main course wasn't delivered until about 7.40pm.
Perhaps this was just a 1-off; but to be honest I have heard similar complaints about slow service before. It's a shame because its an attractive and characterful pub - and when it came the food was nice - but the time it took to come did rather spoil the evening. I will give it another go in the future however.

The menu was not as published on the website. The menu was very limited. They had run out of fillet steak . The rib eyed steak was over cooked and tough. The service was very slow. It took 45 mins to get the first course. Will not go back despite very pleasant waitress.
