An elegant seaside retreat just a stone's throw from Damien Hirst's 66-foot Verity statue, The Quay Restaurant offers elegant British and European cuisine. Via ornate French doors, enjoy views onto Ilfracombe harbour and beyond.

Making use of the local area’s bountiful produce, favourites from the diverse Quay Restaurant menu might include pasta with homemade pesto, a succulent steak with hand-cut chips, or when in season, a whole lobster in garlic and herb butter. Indulge your sweet tooth with bread and butter pudding with custard, or decadent chocolate fondant. There are also inviting vegetarian options and a children’s menu.

Owned by controversial British artist Damien Hirst, artwork from the man himself decorates the interior of this masterfully restored Victorian Inn. Guests at The Quay restaurant can choose from 2 dining rooms, one of which – The Atlantic Room – is fashioned to resemble an upturned boat, and includes an aquarium, as well as views out onto the Atlantic Ocean.

An idyllic seaside retreat, diners can enjoy drinks and nibbles in The Quay bar throughout the day. Ilfracombe town centre is a 5-minute drive away.

Always such a warm welcome to this beautiful restaurant. Sparkling glassware, polished silver and crisp white table linen. Crab claws from Lundy - awesome, served simply and perfectly with lemon in Muslin and garlic mayo. Whole sea bream for main - perfectly cooked - memorable. Highly recommend a visit - you won’t be disappointed.

Our second visit and once again, excellent. We sat by the large window overlooking the sea, food was excellent (crab claws were both very tasty and very 'meaty' and the steak was superb), my wife's scallops were very good (but slighty overpriced - being my one and only criticism), all topped of with a very good Rioja. Staff were both very effiicient and friendly - we look forward to returning.

Lovely restaurant with fantastic staff, friendly and attentive but not overbearing. The food was amazing, not cheap but definitely proves that you get what you pay for.

My first impression of the restaurant was that it is very serene. We were the first table of the evening and was able to enjoy the full beauty of the sea view and the calmness of the restaurant interiors.

The food menu was simple but caters for everyone. The drinks menu had an abundance of choice.

We had the fresh oysters for starters. They were really fresh and we knew from that point on the rest of the food would be good. For the mains, we had the lamb rack and the sea bass. Both dishes were really well presented. There were a lot of delicate flavours on the dishes and everything was cooked to perfection. Portion size was good too. As for dessert, we had the chocolate fondant with the peanut butter ice cream. I’d say if you’re not on a diet, definitely try this!

Overall, this is one of the best dining experience I have had. Thank you to the friendly staffs as well for making this a great night!

We booked this restaurant last minute on a recent trip to north Devon. It’s a beautifully decorated as I expected knowing the it was co-owned by Damien Hirst. Location was good, service was really good and the food was delicious though the portions were small. Slightly disappointed with my starter of scallops, was expecting them to be large given I was at the sea front, but they were super small!!

Would recommend, we went for dinner and decided to eat downstairs as the doors were open and it was an amazing day weather wise and we had two young kids. I’m sure the main restaurant is equally stunning.
