An elegant seaside retreat just a stone's throw from Damien Hirst's 66-foot Verity statue, The Quay Restaurant offers elegant British and European cuisine. Via ornate French doors, enjoy views onto Ilfracombe harbour and beyond.
Making use of the local area’s bountiful produce, favourites from the diverse Quay Restaurant menu might include pasta with homemade pesto, a succulent steak with hand-cut chips, or when in season, a whole lobster in garlic and herb butter. Indulge your sweet tooth with bread and butter pudding with custard, or decadent chocolate fondant. There are also inviting vegetarian options and a children’s menu.
Owned by controversial British artist Damien Hirst, artwork from the man himself decorates the interior of this masterfully restored Victorian Inn. Guests at The Quay restaurant can choose from 2 dining rooms, one of which – The Atlantic Room – is fashioned to resemble an upturned boat, and includes an aquarium, as well as views out onto the Atlantic Ocean.
An idyllic seaside retreat, diners can enjoy drinks and nibbles in The Quay bar throughout the day. Ilfracombe town centre is a 5-minute drive away.

I had had a superb meal in the restaurant last year and wanted to give my family a treat, as we were sailing to Lundy the next day. We had a great table, right by the window with a spectacular sea view - just like being on a ship. The staff were all efficient and friendly, the food was cooked to perfection and attractively served. This is an expensive restaurant, but we had a thoroughly good evening and hope to return in the future.

I booked this restaurant on recommendation from a friend. On arrival we were quickly seated and given a rundown on the menu. We sampled some wine and made a decision on a bottle of Red (which was fantastic). We went for Mussels and Fishcakes to start. My GF is fussy at the best of times and I was interested to see what she thought... She loved it!! As did I! We then moved onto the mains. I had fish of the day which was battered Hake and she went for the lamb. Again, both very very impressed! The food was so tasty and fresh and the service was absolutely fantastic. There was a great atmosphere in the restaurant and it was not pretentious as many good restaurants are. Just good food and great service. We also sampled the caramel chocolate fondant with PB ice cream...I mean wow! I personally thought that the price was extremely reasonable and actually was prepared to be hit with a hefty bill for food like this. Such fantastic value for money! Oh, and then there is the setting, a beautifully decorated and super clean but warm feel in the restaurant overlooking the Sea. We cannot wait to come back to Devon next year and do it all again.

Always such a warm welcome to this beautiful restaurant. Sparkling glassware, polished silver and crisp white table linen. Crab claws from Lundy - awesome, served simply and perfectly with lemon in Muslin and garlic mayo. Whole sea bream for main - perfectly cooked - memorable. Highly recommend a visit - you won’t be disappointed.

Our second visit and once again, excellent. We sat by the large window overlooking the sea, food was excellent (crab claws were both very tasty and very 'meaty' and the steak was superb), my wife's scallops were very good (but slighty overpriced - being my one and only criticism), all topped of with a very good Rioja. Staff were both very effiicient and friendly - we look forward to returning.
