Great setting with views to harbour one side and sea the other. The fillet steak was amazing

An elegant seaside retreat just a stone's throw from Damien Hirst's 66-foot Verity statue, The Quay Restaurant offers elegant British and European cuisine. Via ornate French doors, enjoy views onto Ilfracombe harbour and beyond.

Making use of the local area’s bountiful produce, favourites from the diverse Quay Restaurant menu might include pasta with homemade pesto, a succulent steak with hand-cut chips, or when in season, a whole lobster in garlic and herb butter. Indulge your sweet tooth with bread and butter pudding with custard, or decadent chocolate fondant. There are also inviting vegetarian options and a children’s menu.

Owned by controversial British artist Damien Hirst, artwork from the man himself decorates the interior of this masterfully restored Victorian Inn. Guests at The Quay restaurant can choose from 2 dining rooms, one of which – The Atlantic Room – is fashioned to resemble an upturned boat, and includes an aquarium, as well as views out onto the Atlantic Ocean.

An idyllic seaside retreat, diners can enjoy drinks and nibbles in The Quay bar throughout the day. Ilfracombe town centre is a 5-minute drive away.

Fantastic food, and all large portions, which was surprising, usually you sacrifice size for quality, but not here. Only criticism was the creme brûlée was a bit runny under the crust, but still nice.

Excellent food and service. I had the rib eye steak and maybe a little side salad to go with the chips would have provided an interesting contrast?

Hugely unimpressed. Surly, poorly trained waitress, dull menu, poorly executed and bland dishes.

From the outside the place just looks like another beachside café/bar but when you get shown to your table in the restaurant - WOW. The view out to the Bristol Channel where you can see the Island of Lundy and across the waters to Whales - wonderful. Later in the evening we could see the welsh towns lights twinkling. There was a good selection on the menu. The sea bass was very tasty, even the mash had something added to it to make it more aligned with the sea bass. Perhaps it was the crab meat placed on top of it! It wasn't a plate full but all flavours matched. For sweet I had cheese and biscuits. Here I had three cheeses and plenty of crackers and some lovely sweet pickle.
All in all, a lovely birthday meal for the wife together with our 41st wedding anniversary.

This was the second time I visited in a week as enjoyed the food and the view so much. Beautiful fresh food, skilfully cooked and absolutely delicious. We particularly enjoyed the sea bass dish. Felt that it was good value for money for the quality of the food. Great view out to sea and interesting art on the walls. Shame we were the only ones dining on this occasion as the atmosphere was very quiet - seemed odd for a Saturday lunchtime in the summer holidays. Appreciated the gluten free menu just a shame there was no gf bread available.
