Sadly the bar area was taken over by large businessmen celebrating Christmas, braying loudly and swinging their large bags over our heads whilst they tried to find the toilet, stumbling with alcohol. I do think that if there is a private function, that it is kept in an area which doesn't disturb diners. However the staff were so charming as they tried to find a solution; the food was delicious and once the party left, we wallowed in the luxury of Kit Kemp's gorgeous restaurant.

I had the very first afternoon tea of my life in the Potting shed at Dorset hotel, so I did not have much to compare to, except for what my taste buds told me. My husband ordered a gluten free option which he appreciated! The sandwiches were delicious and very fresh, the scones with clotted cream and two sorts of jam were amazing (both mine and gluten free)! The pastries though did not impress me, especially the fruit tart that seemed to be "old". The chocolate cake was very plain too. I was hoping for something more exquisite. My husband got only 3 pastries against my four. The teas were tasty but after a while the pot with the tea got colder. I suggest covering the pot with a special covering or having something underneath to keep it warm. Tea is not supposed to get cold. The service was friendly and price reasonable though. Overall we were happy, since it was the first experience with afternoon tea. But later tries proved to us that it can be better.

We really enjoyed fresh bread and our mains, however deserts could be improved (ice cream was too hard/dessert selection) Also, portion size for mains could be bigger and more than 1 piece of bread could be offered.

I had aubergine pasta and it was delicious ( I would suggest more vegan/vegetarian options).

The Atmosphere, service, music selection and live music was excellent.

The dining room was too hot.

Nice location and cricket theme but disappointing scones (undercooked on the inside and crunchy on the outside)

The place is cozy intimate setting well curio edited theme around the sport cricket. The staffs however are quite disorganized. Seems like they have no table assignments because after we gave our orders to the young gentlemen, a lady comes to take it again. Missed to bring one of the tea and forgot all about the champagne but got billed for it. Plus we got charged for the tea as extra supposed to be included to the menu. Food is just ok.

I went there for an afternoon tea… The area, the environment, the hotel and restaurant decoration are a real success.
Unfortunately food served with afternoon tea was much disappointing to me. I don't like truffle and they was some in the egg sandwich. There were to much sweet things and not enough salted savories to me… All the more than I found patisseries basic and rough. Scones, clotted cream and jams were alright… But I am a bad judge because I think I will never match with this "afternoon tea" concept (I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner ;-). The green tea was excellent though !

Lovely afternoon tea for a family birthday, wonderful that the children had a different menu, if you didn't like something they swapped it for something else once you had read the menu. Lovely, welcoming staff, very friendly. Nice atmosphere and decor in the building. Very well priced. Highly recommend
