Lovely meal well cooked and well presented. Staff are all friendly and welcoming. We go there regularly as it's one of the few local restaurants that is fully accessible for my husband who uses a wheelchair for mobility.

Overseen by twin brothers Alex and Oliver Burnside, The Plough & Sail offers a modern British menu with eclectic world influences. This sensitively restored, country farmhouse-style hideaway features a spacious restaurant and cosy bar.

A tempting range of menus at The Plough & Sail feature dishes from local suppliers, while cellar is stocked full with world wines and ales from local breweries. Highlights include oysters with shallot vinegar, seasonal fish pie served with a local mixed leaf salad, and duck breast with fondant potato, braised red cabbage, plum tartlet & jus.

The tempting dessert menu features classic creme brulee with a ginger flapjack & poached apricots. In summer, the courtyard at the back is the perfect place to spend a lazy Sunday.

The Plough & Sail in Suffolk is a 10-minute drive from Wickham Market Rail Station.

Absolutely the best Sunday roast I have eaten ever in a restaurant. Meat was succulent, roast potatoes 1st class as was all the trimmings.

As usual the reception was friendly and service efficient. It has a bustling atmosphere and warm ambience. Unfortunately the food was not as appetising as it could have been. The starters were frankly uninteresting - the soup was bland and the walnut salad uninspiring. The risotto was stodgy and not well cooked, and aubergine dish greasy. So disappointing from this place.

I think I wrote to you about the excellent lamb dish with the best eggplant I've ever eaten - it was baked, a served beautifully, just delicious.
The cooking is obviously done with real care and thought of each dish. Only one meal was less than expected and that was breast of chicken on a kind of salad. But from the description I had't realized that the dish was to be essentially cold. But it was warmed up and a big portion of vegetables was served that I'd added. Great apple & berry crumble, very hot with ice cream was a real treat.
Very amiable atmospehre. And... each waitress was highly skilled, had a great sense of humour and was quick in thought. Never saw so many excellent waitresses in one restaurant before!
    What created them?
Thanks for a week of kind care (5 nights in a row had dinner there!)

Had a great meal. Food was very good, service was friendly and excellent as always. Loved eating in the much cosier older part of the pub, with the first roaring fire of the year!

Excellent food at sensible prices. Service efficient but not obtrusive. Mini dishes at lunchtime more than adequate and excellent value.

Very enjoyable lunch, good food both choice and quality, friendly and attentive staff. Beautiful location. Great experience.

Useful online booking service. Friendly, prompt service. Great food and we particularly like the light lunch menu. Only slight criticism is that it is noisy when busy due to hard surfaces and lack of sound proofing. We will definitely come again.
