Overseen by twin brothers Alex and Oliver Burnside, The Plough & Sail offers a modern British menu with eclectic world influences. This sensitively restored, country farmhouse-style hideaway features a spacious restaurant and cosy bar.

A tempting range of menus at The Plough & Sail feature dishes from local suppliers, while cellar is stocked full with world wines and ales from local breweries. Highlights include oysters with shallot vinegar, seasonal fish pie served with a local mixed leaf salad, and duck breast with fondant potato, braised red cabbage, plum tartlet & jus.

The tempting dessert menu features classic creme brulee with a ginger flapjack & poached apricots. In summer, the courtyard at the back is the perfect place to spend a lazy Sunday.

The Plough & Sail in Suffolk is a 10-minute drive from Wickham Market Rail Station.

First visit and very impressed with both the service and food. Will be returning.

A late lunch (last sitting) before the early Sunday evening concert at Snape. They were busy and a bit chaotic on arrival but once seated staff attentive, friendly and helpful. I was impressed by the food - all three courses; superior to my previous visit and still fairly priced. Good selection of wines by the glass. It is not especially smart and, to be honest, a bit messy and ragged after 2+ hours' full on service. That said, it does what it says on the tin - decent upscale pub restaurant food in a more than adequate environment. I haven't tried the concert house's own eating offerings but I can't see them bettering The Plough And Sail.

Really friendly staff, and quick service. Love the skate. Delish. Rocket a bit of a mission to eat 'politely'.

Excellent hake with pea risotto. A lovely friendly service from all staff. Plenty of time to linger over our meal.

Have used this establishment for some years when in area or attending concerts. Has good parking and is both a restaurant and pub offering formal or casual seating as well as sheltered outside courtyard, all with table service. Usually very busy but well managed by two brothers who provide high standard fresh and locally produced food - both set and daily special menu. This time had Hake and Skate as main courses - excellent. Crème brulee with fruit and shortbread was perfect as dessert.
