First class meal with first class attention. Brilliant we were able to take our Spaniel in with us. The staff even got a bowl of water for her. Will certainly go again. Seabass was epic.

Overseen by twin brothers Alex and Oliver Burnside, The Plough & Sail offers a modern British menu with eclectic world influences. This sensitively restored, country farmhouse-style hideaway features a spacious restaurant and cosy bar.

A tempting range of menus at The Plough & Sail feature dishes from local suppliers, while cellar is stocked full with world wines and ales from local breweries. Highlights include oysters with shallot vinegar, seasonal fish pie served with a local mixed leaf salad, and duck breast with fondant potato, braised red cabbage, plum tartlet & jus.

The tempting dessert menu features classic creme brulee with a ginger flapjack & poached apricots. In summer, the courtyard at the back is the perfect place to spend a lazy Sunday.

The Plough & Sail in Suffolk is a 10-minute drive from Wickham Market Rail Station.

We were attending the Aldeburgh Festival and went to the Plough and Sail before a concert. The atmosphere, staff and the food was excellent,

The main courses our friends had were bream & fish & chips, which they liked. The latter being a very good size portion.
We both had sea bass with garlic mash, tasty but poor value for money in our opinion, more like a starter!
All 4 sweets were very good.

A very good restaurant in a very pleasant location. It was the ideal place to have a birthday celebration lunch. The welcome, service and the food and drink were all first class.

I myself chose the bass. I would have preferred it had been served filleted as the fish is so bony. Not a complaint just an observation. The only thing I would criticize is that we sat with finished plates for too long after the main course. The restaurant wasn't at all busy. Otherwise, everyone came away satisfied/pleased.
