Restaurant description

Found nestled in the quaint village of Coton, 3 miles from Cambridge, The Plough seamlessly balances pub food and fine dining. The Plough in Coton is a charming cornerstone of the community offering summertime al fresco dining and a popular Sunday roast.

Warm haggis with roquette and tarragon, fresh apple and mustard sauce is a favourite starter, and there are regularly-changing specials for something one-off. Main courses at The Plough near Cambridge include pub favourites such as fish and chips, along with inventive options like fennel, cucumber and hazelnut salad with brioche croutons.

The desserts on The Plough menu comprise classic favourites, such as apple crumble with custard, and crème brulee with boozy prunes. A selection of light bites, including casual options such as pizza and sandwiches, is also available.

This historic building offsets original low ceilings and gnarled beams with contemporary embellishments. The Plough in Fen Ditton is full of character and a 15-minute drive from Cambridge.

Excellent food, the roast beef was particularly tender and vegetables cooked to our liking. Service was excellent despite the restaurant being extremely busy.

Overall very nice meal however i feel the pricing of the butternut squash steak at similar of that to the roast dinner was excessive and as the roasts were accompanied by roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding.

Delicious food, delicious vegan and veggie options for two of us. Quite evident that it’s all cooked fresh at order. Great staff serving, friendly and attentive and liked the cosy vibe. A fire or fake fire near our table would have given even more atmosphere in winter months

As always The Plough provided not only a good meal but an overall enjoyable experience. From the moment you walk in the door to the moment you leave, full and complete, nothing is too much for the staff. The Plough provides great service. Congratulations to the chef and all those working behind the scenes too - food was wonderful. I always enjoy dining at The Plough and look forward to my next visit.

Lovely service from attentive and friendly staff. The bread and olives were fabulous- the fish and chips less so - chips were undercooked but fish portions enormous while the smoked salmon starter was microscopic. Puddings were fine. Can’t help feeling it could be better but nonetheless offers decent value in a lovely restaurant

Entertained clients at The Plough on two separate evenings last week. Perfect environment for good conversation, great service and food was excellent. I think this will be my new default restaurant of choice for entertaining, as also very simple to get to and parking no hassle. Minutes away from Cambridge city centre.

Very traditional and relaxed setting with friendly, attentive staff-who were very welcoming on arrival too! The prices of the menu items/courses does reflect the value for money. The food was delicious; I had beer-battered fish with chunky chips and mushy peas for the main course followed by pear and ginger crumble with homemade cinnamon ice cream-this was wonderful!
