Good service even on a busy Friday before Christmas. Good selection and quality food. Able to spend all evening relaxing with friends and no pressure to free up our table.

Found nestled in the quaint village of Coton, 3 miles from Cambridge, The Plough seamlessly balances pub food and fine dining. The Plough in Coton is a charming cornerstone of the community offering summertime al fresco dining and a popular Sunday roast.

Warm haggis with roquette and tarragon, fresh apple and mustard sauce is a favourite starter, and there are regularly-changing specials for something one-off. Main courses at The Plough near Cambridge include pub favourites such as fish and chips, along with inventive options like fennel, cucumber and hazelnut salad with brioche croutons.

The desserts on The Plough menu comprise classic favourites, such as apple crumble with custard, and crème brulee with boozy prunes. A selection of light bites, including casual options such as pizza and sandwiches, is also available.

This historic building offsets original low ceilings and gnarled beams with contemporary embellishments. The Plough in Fen Ditton is full of character and a 15-minute drive from Cambridge.

We have dined several times at the Plough over the last year and have enjoyed the food and experience every time. They put in the extra effort to meet your needs.

Friendly welcome and efficient service on a moderately quiet evening; importantly, the food was well presented and had some good unusual touches; wine selection above average and all at a reasonable price.

Staff were friendly and efficient but the kitchen is slow. Food was good but not outstanding. I like going there as aesthetically it's great and has a good ambiance. You have different sittings I assume to try and cope with the numbers especially at this time of the year and I appreciate that you were very busy, however, perhaps warn people that there might be a bit of a wait. there's nothing worse than going out to lunch and then having to rush the meal so you get back to the office in time and therefore having to skip dessert!!

Really good food, however service was slow. The vegetarian options are minimal really could do with more.

Delicious food served by friendly and attentive (but not over attentive) staff. We've been twice recently and most enjoyable evenings both when they were quiet and when they were busy.

The restaurant has been refurbished to a high standard. We went for Sunday lunch which was very tasty. When ordering our food we checked that the potatoes were veggie and were assured that they were. Our helpful waitress double-checked though and they were in fact cooked in goose fat. A few more veggie options would be ideal.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was good, hearty gastropub style. The draught beer (we drank the Timothy Taylor Landlord) was excellent. Only criticism was that the pub was very busy and it took a full half-hour to get our main course - which had clearly been standing for a while before it came out. Shame but we would go back there as the general experience was good.

The food was very good, the service excellent too. The only negative was that it was a bit cold in the restaurant, especially for my 80 year old mother - could do with turning the heating up a bit!
