Described as 'London's Best Secret Bar' by Harpers Bazaar, and winner of 'Best Bar & Pub' at Time Out's Love London Awards 2 years running, The Phoenix Arts Club is found tucked beneath The Phoenix Theatre. Serving up seasonal European dishes and some British favourites, their lively and nostalgic theatre bar and restaurant is located in the original dressing and rehearsal rooms of The Phoenix Theatre. With fascinating signed posters, paintings and pictures from decades of theatre productions, a restored art deco interior and hidden treasures in every corner! There's something new to see on every visit!

Head chef Robert Kusy makes his West End debut following appearances on numerous cooking shows (including alongside MasterChef UK Judge John Torode) and collaborations with celebrity chefs Silvena Rowe and Jean-Christophe Novelli. Robert Kusy's leading role promises to bring an exciting and delicious new approach to the club that won 'Restaurant of the Year' at the Federation of Small Businesses awards, as well as the Time Out London Love London Award for 'Best Club & Bar in Covent Garden & The Strand' 2 years running.

The Phoenix Arts Club is tucked away down the same side street used in the opening sequence of Harry Potter, and is a charming escape from the London norm. You never quite know who might make an appearance, or take to the stage for an impromptu performance.

The Phoenix Arts Club in London is a short walk from both Tottenham Court Road and Covent Garden Tube stations.

A great little place, super busy as it was London Pride but that did not affect service. Staff worked super hard and food and drink were all reasonably priced. Only thing I would say is it’s very dark with no windows so great for winter nights or rainy days but super hot when we have a few heatwave days in summer :) this is not a criticism - merely worth mentioning. Would go again, for sure :)

Food was excellent and the environment was fun, being in a theatre. We went for the Pre-Theatre menu for a 7pm show and they were so slow in bringing out the main course that we missed the beginning of the show.... and we told them we were trying to get to the theatre by 7pm! Our reservation was at 5:30, so we should have been able to make it. Very irritating about the slow service and no sense of urgency for a pre-theatre supper but the food was very good.

This was a really bad experience and certainly did not live upto the hyped reviews. Bruchetta turned out to be one medium sliced toasted piece of brown bread with pesto/O oil brushed on!!!! With i grant them tomatoes. One dinner, rump of lamb was raw (not pink)in the middle, we had to wait 40 minutes for main course will never return. It was really really bad

Great as ever. Good choice of dishes and all we had lived up to expectations. Chicken Kiev good. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable. Considering the number of customers, the service is quick, efficient and very friendly. Entertainment great.

We went there for my birthday. The atmosphere is absolutely electric, the place breaths history and contemporaneity at the same time. Loved the live music, live piano/singer and later live singer/show. Wrong bits. They find us a place to have our dinner, but evidently they didn't check our reservation till the very end, since they asked me for the confirmation email. The reason was clear nearly after, the place wasn't full at all in the "dining room", but they had just 2 choices on the main courses on 5-6 that they have on the menu. I booked for a 2 cousers offer for 15£ and I could just choose between the vegan main and the steak main. I asked if the dish was comprehended in the offer, the waiter said me "yes of course", and it was, indeed, but he forgot to tell me about the 5£ extra because the steak main requires that extra. Not that much but be clear at the early stage and having more choices could avoid disappointment at the end. The food was nice, nothing particular exciting, the steak a little too cooked (as I asked for a medium rare I received a medium-well done one, and my friend received an overcooked one) but the bad bit was waiting around 45 minutes for a steak, a duck egg, peashoots and fries. The other tables was already served but they were mostly focused on the "bar room" evidently. The wine chart was under revision and they had very less choices on wine, ended up to select a pale ale with "history of infamous guest, ask this story", I tried.. but no answer was provided. I Would like to give 4 star but if they still want to have the food service they must care more about that.
