The starters and main courses (lobster dish and black cod dish) were excellent. However, the service was very poor. We were basically left alone and had to get up and walk to the front to call the wait staff. We had to server our own water and wine - which isn't an issue except the wine bottle was soaking and dropped over the food. Also, wrong side was delivered and when the right dish was served )okra and asparagus fritters) it was too oily and soft. At the end of the meal while we were having our drinks the table was left with crumbs all over it rather than cleaned.

Wow! This place charges like a wounded bull! I don't mind paying more for really delicious food but this was seriously average. Almost nobody dining there so a really dead atmosphere. I feel The Painted Heron is an anachronism that has run its course.

Excellent Indian food, great and friendly service. We were a group of 6, and they sat us in a nice alcove. It was a Monday night, so they weren't very busy. We started with a selection of interesting appetizers. All the main dishes were delicious. I had Chicken Tikka Buryani; it was served in a pretty pot-like dish; and it was delicious. Others had: Sea bass, a three-dish vegetarian selection, and other traditional Indian food. We all enjoyed it very much. Desserts were also quite good. Mine was 3 mango cookie sandwich-like pieces in a saffron flavored sauce. Mango 3 ways was very interesting also. I would highly recommend this great place!
