We were welcomed on arrival & had drinks in the bar .We ordered our food & were called to the table for our starters, suprise,we were served a small complimentary cup of soup.Everybody enjoyed their starters.I had pickled mackerel & crab terrine. The restaurant was busy so our mains were slightly delayed but not seriously. My wife & I had spicy seafood laksa which was excellent. The moules marinare & ballotine was also enjoyed. We didnt have a dessert.
My only criticism is the menu is brief & that people who are staying in the hotel should be requested to dress more appropriately for dinner.
Now the shock,we didn't complain about the service but when we went to pay the bill the proprietor deducted our drinks as an apology. I think they are being too hard on themselves.
    A good dining experience.

We tried the six course tasting menu and the food was really excellent. The young waiter was efficient and friendly, the surroundings were nice but there was something lacking. You entered the front door and you were immediately unsure where to go. We managed to find the bar and all went smoothly from then on. The young waiter did everything, served you in the bar, took your order, showed you to your seat and served your food and wine which he did admirably. He obviously wasn't the owner or manager, who was seen in the background. This person never engaged anybody in conversation and seemed to be checking the lights and doing paperwork and seemed unwilling to have anything to do with the customers at all and this was the problem. You expect a warm welcome, you expect to be engaged in conversation to a degree and you expect your presence to be appreciated at least. It shouldn't all be left to a young waiter no matter how efficient and pleasant he was. It just left a rather cold impression. A warm and friendly atmosphere needs to be engendered to make this really sucessful

The ambience of the Olive Tree is lovely with a pleasant lounge for pre dinner drinks. The 6 course taster menu sounded delicious but was unfortunately disappointing in that the duck and scallop courses were both miniscule with poor flavour (the duck excessively salty and with no 'ducky' flavour and the scallop slice similarly lacking in flavour). The other courses were very much better--a small portion of rare venison and a good apple dessert. This was a Travelzoo deal and I think we got what we paid for!

Dined on our anniversary the food was lovely I just found the portions too little for the price and not much variety on the menu. The place is well decorated I will definitely dine here again :)

We were early diners, at 6.45. There was a warm welcome, drinks served in a comfortable, stylish area. Because it became obvious from our remarks that one of the party had a birthday, when the deserts arrived there was one special one with Happy Birthday in white chocolate round the plate which was a lovely touch. The food was delicious, there were a some of quite unusual things, for example special belly pork dish which was delicious. Each course was both delicious and beautifully presented by very friendly and attentive staff. All this, with great ambiance and a stylish dining room at a very reasonable price. Go there!
