Restaurant description
A welcoming village pub with traditional style and modern gastropub flavours, The Old Lion is an inviting spot for leisurely meals. Dogs are welcome in the bar area, and there are crackling log fires to relax by with a glass of wine or cask ale.
The Old Lion menu is a modern example of British gastropub excellence, with classic dishes sitting alongside contemporary flavours. Artisan breaded brie with a red berry jelly is a great sharer to start off with, moving on to pub favourites like cod and chips or homemade pie of the day. There are rustic pizzas cooked in the stone oven, and succulent steaks and burgers from the grill menu too.
Enjoy generous Sunday roasts at The Old Lion in Rugby, featuring a choice of slow-cooked meats with all the trimmings. Local cask ales and ciders are served at the bar, as well as a concise wine list and extensive choice of international spirits.
A homely pub with modern updates and a gourmet menu, The Old Lion is a 9-minute drive from Rugby Rail Station.

Warm, inviting and very friendly service. Good mix of dishes... something for everyone. Keenly priced. A lovely way to celebrate my oldest daughter's birthday, along with her (grown up) sisters. The experience cheered up a dreary wet and windy evening and made us want to come back!

We booked for lunchtime because the lunchtime menu online looked reasonably priced. When we arrived we weren't offered this menu but the main one so had to ask for it. The waiter was reluctant to give it to us and said there were sandwiches, baguettes etc on the blackboard and smaller portion meals were on the main menu. We decided to order from the main menu after all as there was very little choice of hot food. The home cooked steak pie was very good, if not a little pricey at £14.95 and the fish and chips was generously portioned. We had noticed that at lunchtime, desserts could be ordered for £3.50 but when we asked for one were told they were only if you ordered from the lunchtime menu (?) We decided not to bother as it all seemed to be too much trouble.

All of Rugby shut down with a 40 minute power cut, so you did all you could to minimise the effect. When over, the meal was very good. Thank you.

We had a wonderful meal, all of the food was perfectly cooked and you could tell that quality ingredients had been used and that everything had been freshly prepared. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the restaurant was filled with the sound of people chatting, so nice not to have to compete with music!

We decided to eat here as scallops were on the menu and we weren’t disappointed they were lovely and perfectly cooked. Rest of the meal was also good the best calzone I’ve ever had. The only downside was it took quite a while for our order to arrive but We will definitely be visiting there again
