Warm welcome on arrival and offered pre dinner drinks (we were early) ambience in bar area good and service friendly, efficient and then presented with menus. We were invited to go through to our table and were shown to a nice table in cosy environment. All good so far. Restaurant was full and busy (Saturday night) but not many staff serving.
We sat at our table for approximately twenty five minutes before anybody returned, no offer of further drinks. Waitress appeared and took food order. They had run out of a few dishes from both the starter and main course selections, not a major problem. Still no further offer of drinks or wine so I asked for Wine list, which she then forgot! .. Asked again and Wine list was produced.
Drinks, wine then arrived fairly promptly.
It took a long time for the Appetisers to arrive which wasn't a huge problem as we were chatting, probably about forty five minutes to an hour or so. all the food was delicious, Scotch Egg and Beef Carpaccio were particular highlights.
Nice break in-between starter and main course, but again ad hoc drinks were forgotten about and we had to repeat the request. Main courses were fairly substantial and tasty. I had the Pork Chop with Romesco sauce, my companions had a Rib eye burger, Chicken Galantine and a Salmon Fishcake. The dessert menu was interesting and unusual but we settled just for coffees.
Two Bottles of reasonable Wine, two diet Cokes, Pre dinner drinks and 2 bottles of sparkling water and two courses each and coffee bill came to just under £50 per head. make of that what you will.
Overall food was very good, This is a Gastro-Pub and the menu for some may be a little challenging. I felt It was nice to go somewhere where there was a marked difference to your usual pub fare. I would return but the service would need to improve especially if there was just two of you. From our arrival to our departure was three and a half hours so a definite occasion rather than a quick bite to eat.

The waitress was incredible. She really looked after us. Food amazing. I especially loved my mackeral starter and the burger was to die for. Beautiful place. We've been several times and never disappointed. Took friends who haven't been before and they will be going back. Fantastic evening

Food was brilliant, reasonably priced for the quality. Service was good, but a little slow, waiting staff seemed overworked. Would definitely go back.

A really lovely evening was spent at the Old House Inn. A beautiful building and grounds, with friendly and efficient staff, clearly a very strong kitchen team, and a good wine cellar. We all enjoyed ourselves very much, and will definitely be back. They really have got what they're doing, right. If you are looking for somewhere relaxed, where you will get great food and service, look no further.
