Dating all the way to the 16th century, The Old Hatchet is the quintessential rural British pub. Inside, there are rustic flagstone floors and crackling log fires, while outside the tranquil beer garden is the perfect sun trap, and puts on BBQs and hog roasts during the warmer months.

The Old Hatchet menu uses meat and fish from local suppliers, and crafts them into honest, whole gourmet pub grub favourites. Nibbles for the table include baked camembert, pigs in blankets and sweet potato fries, moving on to crowd-pleasers like Frontier Ale-battered fish and chips, and the prime rib-eye. Signature hanging skewers are a popular choice, and on Sundays there are roast dinners with all the trimmings.

From the bar at The Old Hatchet in Windsor, there are regularly rotated Fuller's ales, as well as a selection of world beers and fine wines. Not only is this a dog-friendly pub, but there is a dedicated menu for man's best friend too, with a great selection of healthy nibbles, and even sweet treats like special frozen yoghurt.

A charming slice of rural British pub tradition, The Old Hatchet is a 12-minute drive from Bracknell Rail Station.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the old hatchet. Had Sunday roast and the meals were lovely, large portions sizes. Nice atmosphere and staff very nice and polite.

Beautiful pub and location. Eaten there many times and always enjoyed it. This was the first time we have had a less than good experience. The starters and mains were fine (admit we were a little late ordering) but afterwards the staff did not bring the dessert menus or ask about coffees. We gave up waiting and decided against it. Shame as the restaurant lost out as we would likely have spent more money had they been more attentive.

Easy to book, welcoming and friendly. We had asked to be sat next to a radiator - so our 88 year old Mum would be comfy and warm - and they did this for us. The restaurant was busy and they were short staffed - the waitress apologised and explained and said that there maybe a delay for food. The food arrived hot and we didn't have to wait that long in the end. We had fish which was cooked to perfection - so often it can be dry and overcooked, so compliments to the Chef. :). The steak pie was to die for. You can always count on the guys at the Hatchet xx

it was a delicious meal only thing could have been better was bubble n squeak could have been hotter. but never the less we would defiantly recommend the Old Hatchet as its warm welcoming and lovely not to have to shout to be heard.

Huge portions, reasonable standard not 'outstanding', plainer more limited menu on the day than website (may have been Sunday lunch effect. Extremely busy Sunday lunchtime, staff made valiant efforts but struggled a little to keep up. Nice pub atmosphere.

Limited menu but the meals chosen were excellent. Background music, unlike other restaurants we've tried, was unobtrusive and we could converse easily
