A Michelin-starred restaurant inside a 15th-century thatched building, The Nut Tree Inn Murcott blends rural charm with modern British cuisine. With a relaxed feel and tranquil outdoor seating, the pub also boasts tranquil outdoor sitting overlooking Oxfordshire countryside.
Fresh, local produce packs The Nut Tree Inn menu, which changes regularly to adapt to the seasons. Expect the likes of grilled fillet of aged Charolais beef with dripping-cooked chips, olive oil-poached Scottish halibut with green herb risotto, or handmade ravioli with truffle velouté. Gourmet twists on pub classics can be found in dishes like pork sausages with mash and onion gravy, and smoked salmon fishcakes with tomato butter sauce.
Indulgent desserts at The Nut Tree Inn near Bicester include black cherry soufflé with Earl Grey tea sorbet, and warm chocolate fondant with pistachio ice cream. At the bar, real ales and fine wines are served in a classic country pub setting.
Combining award-winning food with rustic charm, The Nut Tree Inn Oxfordshire is a village pub packed with character. Close to the M40 motorway, both Bicester and Oxford are a short drive away.

The Nut Tree is a beautiful pub in a fantastic setting. The service and the food were top notch and we had a really great evening. We'll be back!

Very beautiful old pub in rural Oxfordshire, thatched roof, covered in roses, with lovely garden where we sat for our meal. We had a la carte lunch. Every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. Complimentary starter of cauliflower soup followed by smoked salmon, main course halibut, then pre dessert of mousse in an egg shell, and main dessert soufflé with sorbet. Wonderful!

I booked this restaurant as I was given a gift voucher to the value of £200. It was a little off putting that despite that this was for the full cash price that there were still restrictions on certain days where we were not able to attend. If had been a promotional voucher fair enough.
We were aware that the prices were high and had already decided to take the 7 course taster menu.
We were advised that we would be sitting in the restaurant which was a very small table in a corner with a view of the bar.
It was a busy Saturday lunch time so there was a lot of activity in the bar with people coming and going, dogs running in and children running around.
This is not what I had expected considering the cost involved.
Overall the food and service were good. However the attention to detail was sadly missing. Nobody topping up drinks or being visible should there be a query.
One dish, the lobster tail was tough and somewhat lacking in flavour. We gave our honest opinion when asked and the response was a shrug of the shoulders.
Having been to a few restaurants offering the same type of taster menu, including Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir there really was no comparison and the price seemed very high in comparison.
The toilet facilities were far from plush.
I think it needs to decide whether it is a pub or a fine dining establishment.
I would recommend it but maybe for the pub meals as paying more didn't seem to get you any better treatment.

We booked for a late lunch with friends. The weather was excellent so we had our pre food drinks outside prior to moving indoors for our food, although we were offered the chance to have our food outdoors as well. The advantage of being a pub is that decent beer is served, in my case a pint of the local brew from Vale brewery. The menu has a choice of 4 or 5 dishes per course, including a fish and vegetarian one, which covered our tastes. Indeed we all had at least two likes for each course.
The starters were possibly the highlight of the meal. Summer salad for me, lobster for my companions, each very well proportioned and seasoned, and also attractive on the eye . My main course of squab pigeon was good on the palate, but in my view slightly unbalanced between with too much non meat for a good balance. Other mains of halibut and lamb were better proportioned. For desert, the soufflé was, well, a soufflé, and very good too, as was the pannecotta. An excellent wine list, with a good selection by bottle, carafe and glass.
Service attentive and enthusiastic without being in your face, price fine for the all round quality. We have eaten several times at this restaurant, this was by some distance its best showing to us.

We had a tasting menu, and every dish was superb, including cheese board, which we have ordered seperately. The only dissapointment that the somelier told us that Sherry isn’t a fortified wine, which we have checked after wards, and found out that it actually is.
