In a wonderfully tranquil setting beside the River Coquet, The Northumberland Arms Morpeth is a beautiful 19th-century pub and hotel. Inventive British and European dishes are served, along with kids' menus and popular Sunday roasts.

Michelin and AA Rosette experienced chefs craft the Northumberland Arms Morpeth menu, using the finest seasonal ingredients. Inventive starters combines bold world flavours, such as Thai spiced crab salad with spicy ketchup and watermelon and cucumber soup, with classic British traditions also featuring, including roast loin of Northumbrian venison, garden pea puree, baby carrots, chestnut mash and redcurrant jus.

For afters, there are indulgent desserts like chocolate panna cotta with chocolate ganache and homemade chocolate chip shortbread, as well as a great selection of Northumbrian cheeses. The wine list includes vintages from around the globe, and there is also a selection of cask ales and craft beers.

A great example of rustic rural dining blended with cosmopolitan tweaks, The Northumberland Arms in Morpeth is 8 minutes' drive from Acklington Train Station.

I found the Northumberland arms to have very pleasant surroundings, however everything from then was downhill. The service was very slow and the menu extremely limited, the vegetables were undercooked and the turkey more stuffing than turkey. I have visited this establishment some time ago and found the difference remarkable, I shall need some persuasion to make a return visit.

Very enjoyable Sunday lunch, 2 downsides, service was rather slow. Most annoying was having to walk through a group of people smoking at the entrance to establishment.

On entering the restaurant it had a nice atmosphere. The staff were very pleasant. On giving the menu I was very disappointed as I had looked at the menu on line and three of the main dishes were omitted leaving a very sparse choice of mains. Therefore having to choose something I wouldn't normally have. We weren't going to stay but had a 45 min journey and being a Saturday night would have found it difficult to go elsewhere. The food was well presented and of good quality. Just not much choice. I did send them an email about this as yet had no reply

The service was very good, we had the 3 course Sunday lunch. The starter and desert were lovely, we found the main course roast dinner slightly underwhelming and over priced. The meat wasn’t the best. Overall we enjoyed our meal but £130 for 4 people with only one drink each was a little pricey .
