We had a fabulous meal served by lovely people. I had fish and chips which were delicious. My wife had muscles which were delicious. Kids had meals from the Kids menu and cleaned their plates. The real ale was well looked after. A place we will definitely visit again and again.

In a wonderfully tranquil setting beside the River Coquet, The Northumberland Arms Morpeth is a beautiful 19th-century pub and hotel. Inventive British and European dishes are served, along with kids' menus and popular Sunday roasts.

Michelin and AA Rosette experienced chefs craft the Northumberland Arms Morpeth menu, using the finest seasonal ingredients. Inventive starters combines bold world flavours, such as Thai spiced crab salad with spicy ketchup and watermelon and cucumber soup, with classic British traditions also featuring, including roast loin of Northumbrian venison, garden pea puree, baby carrots, chestnut mash and redcurrant jus.

For afters, there are indulgent desserts like chocolate panna cotta with chocolate ganache and homemade chocolate chip shortbread, as well as a great selection of Northumbrian cheeses. The wine list includes vintages from around the globe, and there is also a selection of cask ales and craft beers.

A great example of rustic rural dining blended with cosmopolitan tweaks, The Northumberland Arms in Morpeth is 8 minutes' drive from Acklington Train Station.

I was taken out for a mortared days lunch by my son, there five people in our including one child, the starts were amazing and we all enjoyed them.the main Sunday lunch was lovely and plenty of fresh veg.we were finishing off and decided not to have pudding as the pub had let two different parties in that had dogs this was really off putting to us.one of the dogs broke wind and the smell was terrible not very good for people trying to enjoy our mother’s lunch.i don’t mind dogs in the pub but we should have been seated elsewhere.

The food was excellent however we were charged for 2 desserts we didn't have and charged for a child's drink that should have been included in the meal deal.

We arrived just before our reservation time. It was really busy and we had to wait around 20 minutes for our table. This was fine as we had a drink at the bar. It is a beautiful restaurant it cannot be faulted. We did not order starters as there was nothing we fancied. The young lady who took our order seemed a little put out by this. We ordered Sunday lunch for four 3 beef 1 pork and they were absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection. Desserts were out of this world. This is not our first visit to the restaurant we have been before but somehow our experience wasn't as pleasurable. Such a shame as we were there for my sisterson anniversary.

This was not our first visit..but it was disappointing. We were the only table havinf afternoon tea and i beleve the tea was prepared the day before when it was possible there were more customers. Although the selection of deserts was as tempting as usual they were absolutely chilled cold ...straight from the fridge. The scones were old, the brownies and macaroons soft on the outside. The cream for the scones was not clotted but some kind of runny vanilla patisserie. The sandwiches again were old. The waitress was told, she said she would tell the chef but no more was heard. Had we eaten the same selection the day before it would hav been delicious!
