Excellent lunch with good service
11 August 2018
With a long history on the site as a farm then a beer house, The Mint near Banstead continues its rural heritage of serving traditional British food. Nestled in a lush country setting, the views can be enjoyed from the pretty al fresco beer garden, and the building itself is fittingly rustic for the location, with chunky oak beams and a welcoming hearth-fire.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Mint menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Mint ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.
The Mint is 6 minutes’ drive from Banstead, but is remote and peaceful.

Waited an hour and a half for food as hand held device did not work and food order didn’t go through. No one came to check during that time so it was only when we asked where the food was, that they redid the order.
Chicken pie dry no sauce inside. Vegetable slimy wet cabbage on side of plate look digusting.
Cappuccino watery and tasteless

Service was extremely slow due to lack of staff. Waitress was very good. Steak was over cooked, replaced with a fresh one.

We had a lovely meal and the staff cared to mums need in a caring way. Mum is in a wheelchair but loved going out. Mum had the roast and I had steak. Food was beautiful and tasty.

Great service, lovely waitress. Unfortunately the food was only average at best.

Whilst thoroughly enjoying the starter of prawn and lobster cocktail I was very disappointed with the quality of rump steak that I ordered. It was virtually impossible to cut through. When asked if everything was ok by the staff, I told them the steak was tough but sadly apart from a slight apology, no offer of recompense was made. Apart from this I had a very pleasant evening at The Mint as did the rest of the party who had absolutely no complaints with their food.

If you want basic pub grub this is the place. Food OK, but not exciting. Service a little "hit and miss", and not really geared for very busy times.
