Housed in a Grade II-listed watermill and frequently recommended by the Good Pub Guide, The Mill House pub bursts with character. Offering classic pub fare alongside more exotic options, the venture from Brunning & Price is renowned among locals and beyond.

With plenty of sandwiches and light bites on offer, guests can enjoy a snack with a cask beer or glass of affordable wine. More substantial dishes vary from comforting chicken, ham and leek pie, to oriental-inspired teriyaki sea bass salad with wasabi rice balls.

The desserts on The Mill House menu are just as enticing, from childhood favourite sticky toffee pudding, to innovative limoncello-soaked polenta cake with lime panna cotta and gin & tonic sorbet. There is even a range of mini dishes for children to choose from at The Mill House in Basingstoke.

Dine al fresco on warmer days and enjoy views over the pond, or soak up the medieval-steeped atmosphere indoors. The Mill House in Hook has Odiham Castle on its doorstep, and Basingstoke town a short distance away.

Gorgeous location and grounds, menu has imaginative smaller dishes and light bites, which suited our party. Food was v good and everyone enjoyed what they had ordered.
A couple of minor issues: our table was too close to the next table, so conversation on both tables (7 on ours, 6 on the other) interfered with the other, and noise levels rose in the tiny room. Service staff were very pleasant and friendly, although a couple of minor things were forgotten, and we had to go to the bar 2x to remind staff what we had ordered. There were too many different staff serving us, so I think that led to confusion.
Overall, a lovely family lunch and we'll certainly be going back, next time to sit in the sun!
    thank you.

I booked ,.when I arrived and gave the printed out Booking Reference 3 staff members gathered around and looked very confused. It made me feel unwelcome. We were then shown to a table.

A pleasant evening, food was fine, waited a while for drinks, service not great. Prawns had a strange smell so didn't eat them, chef felt they were fine. I wasn't poorly so he was right as I had eaten one

Beautifully restored old mill house. Tastefully and sympathetically decorated. Excellent service. Great food at fair prices. Something for everyone. Picturesque setting outside

We do go here regularly as its quite a central location for all of us who don't live in the same area. Lovely building. However have always found service a bit hit and miss. Always very pleasant but often have to go and find someone to order more drinks or to remind them we need dessert menu etc. Think some of that down to the spread out design of the restaurant but it can be irritating. Last night for example we asked twice for more water on the table and it never came. It was very quiet with hardly any customers so we wouldn't have expected to chase to order anything else or get bill but we did. Also feel menu is a bit boring. However food is good and we love the location so we will continue to go
