Afternoon tea excellent; and the views of the setting sun across the bay beautiful. Only slight downside was noise from a function going on in the hotel.

Inside a beautiful art deco building that curves along the coast of Morecambe Bay, The Midland Hotel Restaurant serves contemporary recipes with stunning sea views from the striking sun terrace, with its floor-to-ceiling windows.

The Midland Hotel Restaurant menu uses fresh produce from across Lancashire, as well as seafood caught out in the bay next to the hotel. To start, there are Morecambe Bay shrimps served warm with toasted sourdough, as well as rabbit ballontine with puy lentils, bacon, carrots and parsley. A range of meats include fillet steak, braised pork belly, and roast rump of Lakeland lamb with soft herb polenta, salsa verde and crispy capers. There are also vegetarian recipes such as butternut squash, ricotta and spinach pancake.

Sumptuous sweet treats to finish include coconut crème brûlée with shortbread biscuit, as well as inventive creations like the salted white chocolate financier with passionfruit and popcorn. There is a great selection of British cheeses, as well as a full wine list.

Also offering a dedicated gluten-free menu, The Midland Hotel Restaurant in Lancashire is a 9-minute walk from Morecambe Rail Station.

Part of a winter deal offer while staying at the Midland Hotel. Lovely surroundings and excellent customer service. Overall good food, portions just right for a three course meal. Pigeon cooked perfectly, venison could have been a little more rare for me but fine. We were a little disappointed in the puddings, a rather bland creme brûlée and treacle tart that was more akin to a flapjack and rubbery (too much gelatine) set creme fraiche. Good choice of wine.

Best afternoon tea ever! Fantastic location and food. My only very small criticism is that the table was slightly small for 4 people.

A very pleasant lunch, friendly and helpful staff, good food, good value for money. Ambience, and the view, unbeatable.

The dining room was beautiful and in keeping with the Art Deco theme of the hotel which we loved. I ate pigeon for a starter which was lovely and my wife had the mackeral served on pumpkin and lentils - she said it was delicious. For main course I had the monkfish on lentils, again fully enjoyed and plate cleared; my wife had the fish of the day, plaice served with cavolo nero and a sweet sauce - everything was cooked to perfection but she personally was not keen on the sauce. Cheese was shared for pudding and was ample and perfect.

I have enjoyed Sunday lunch at the Midland on many occasions so was disappointed that the Afternoon Tea was a bit of a let down. The teapot had not been warmed properly so the tea went cold very quickly (Hot tea is essential to the event!) The music was on a very short loop so repeatedly hearing the same tracks became a bit monotonous. The restaurant was quite cold. I also felt that the Afternoon Tea was definitely overpriced. I enjoyed the view, the service & the occasion but sadly will not be taking afternoon tea again.

We had the afternoon tea and it was absolutely delightful. Beautiful setting and wonderful food. However, unfortunately at the end of our afternoon a waitress was rude to us when we asked for a glass of water to quickly have before we left. Other than that wonderful experience, real shame about one individual tainting the experience as a whole
