The Merry Monk brings the essence of French and English gastronomy to the heart of the Cambridgeshire fens. A summery al fresco garden hosts to sizzling barbecues, while the cosy weathered dining room is filled with nooks and crannies.
Sourcing from some of the region’s most well-respected farmers, fisherman and suppliers, The Merry Monk menu showcases a range of premium, carefully crafted dishes. Enjoy robust flavours like fillet of hake with cider pickled shallots and sweet potato veloute, or loin of deer with leek pie and kale salad. Old-school recipes for dessert include walnut panna cotta with Italian meringue, or bitter chocolate tart with lemon & thyme ice cream.
A crowd-pleasing wine list is matched to the dishes, and The Merry Monk Cambridge bar offers a host of smooth cask ales.
Run by the Smith family since 2002, The Merry Monk restaurant is made up of 3 carefully restored 17th-century cottages. The Merry Monk is surrounded by idyllic countryside, and is 15 minutes’ drive from Ely.
