Friendly welcome, service efficient, chef's homemade cakes delicious, don't usually eat eclairs but those homemade one's were lovely. Decor very fresh and clean. Staff very attentive not over powering.

Named Restaurant of the Year in the Kent Taste Awards 2012, The Marquis at Alkham offers luxury modern British dishes made using the finest local ingredients. The cosmopolitan yet cosy dining room features pinstriped velvet and rustic exposed brickwork, with views offered out onto the rolling local countryside.

Head Chef Andrew King presides over delicious menus that change regularly, bursting with robust, fresh flavours served with flair. Highlights on the menu include roast partridge with cocotte potato, quince, curly kale, streaky bacon & green cobnuts, fillets of Dover sole with black trompette mushrooms, sweetcorn, sea vegetables & chive dauphine, and venison loin with root vegetable pan haggerty, elderberry sauce, black cabbage & Ashmore cheese.

The enticing dessert menu is heading by earl grey & strawberry soufflé with camomile ice cream. An impressive bar stock features Old and New World wines, as well as bins from Kentish vineyards, and beers from local breweries.

The Marquis at Alkham is a 5-minute drive from Kearsney (Kent) Rail Station.

The restaurant has been tastefully refurbished and from the moment we stepped inside we were met by friendly staff. The food was quite nice but the portions were quite small and the soup though lovely could have been hotter. The star of the show was the desert of chocolate and dark cherries which was yummy.

There is only one word to describe my visit to you and that is 'excellent' all round

We have dined here before and yet again as always a superb lunch with kind attention to detail by everyone there.
We had to cancel our pre paid Boxing Day meal for 4 as 3 of us were taken ill with the winter flu but they kindly held our payment which we were able to use for this and a towards a future booking.
So kind and understanding and I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant and also an overnight stay if the opportunity arises.
Brilliant and many thanks all around.

The dinner was superb. We had the a la carte menu and enjoyed it all from the amuse-bouche to the petit-fours and coffee. The Sunday lunch was not quite as good as it was more like a standard pub roast and had nothing extraordinary about it.

The service was amazing and the food beautifully presented and tasting wonderful.
I require a gluten free diet and that was no problem to the chef: in fact I could eat most of the dishes and the chef had made gluten free bread too.
The waiting staff were very pleasant. We would definitely eat there again. The drinks were rather expensive but the food very reasonable

We've eaten here twice recently. The food is extremely good and very reasonably priced. The staff are all very friendly, pleasant and helpful.
