Lively, relaxed atmosphere. Dog friendly which is great if you’ve arrived on foot. Food is delicious in a home cooked way with attention to side dishes as well as the meat.

Headed by Michelin-starred chef Nathan Outlaw, The Mariners Public House is a contemporary pub and restaurant overlooking the Camel Estuary. Fantastic local produce is served, with live music events also featuring.

The Mariners Public House menu is packed with freshly caught seafood – there are Cornish mussels cooked in Wolf Rock IPA, Porthilly oysters with shallot vinegar, and potted Cornish crab served with Doom Bar bread. Steaks at The Mariners come exclusively from South West Farms, aged on the bone for 28-32 days.

There is also a popular Sunday lunch menu at The Mariners Public House Rock, including free range roast pork, vegetarian options like rosemary gnocchi, and desserts like Cornwall strawberries with vanilla set cream. As well as beers from Sharpe's Brewery, there are over 20 bottled varieties from around the world.

Showcasing the very best in Cornish produce, The Mariners Public House is a 35-minute drive from Roche Rail Station.

We recently had Sunday Lunch. On the Managers recommendation, we decided to opt for the Slow Roasted leg of lamb. This apparently, had been slow cooked on charcoal, by the excellent chef Simone, then buried on the beach overnight and re-claimed before the tide came in "FANTASTICO"so moist and tender. Where do these chefs get these brilliant ideas that produce such fantastic Results. Would give a big thumbs up also to the Sharps "HEILLISHWEATHER"I.P.A New World, slightly Hoppy with a twist of citrus. In a Nutshell Great Food, Great Staff, Excellent Venue

The restaurant was welcoming and the staff made a real effort to make my partner's birthday special by providing both a complimentary drink on arrival and later a dessert. However I personally felt that the food was no more than 'ok' - for the price I would expect the standard to be higher. My steak quality was mediocre and at £25 for my meal I would expect home made chips! Also, my elderly mother makes better fruit cake - we were really looking forward to the Doom Bar cake but it was very dry. The wine was great though. Overall we enjoyed it but probably not enough to return.

A must visit. Staff was knowledgable and the food was off the charts. Exactly the lunch we were hoping for and a standout in quiet Rock vs it’s noisier cousin Padstow.

Not the best meal we've ever had, my son's was very good, he enjoyed the home made fish fingers. The staff were very pleasant & helpful, but I didn't think our meal was as good as it could have been for the price. We enjoyed the starter but the main wasn't the best. We were just disappointed as it was a Nathan Outlaw pub & it wasn't great. The atmosphere in the room was spoilt by a large family group, there was nothing to soak up their noise. The wine & beer was lovely but we didn't stick around for a pudding. It just felt a bit uninspired & lazy. Sorry.

The whole experience was delightful, Lovely view with our window table, waitress very friendly and atentative. The food was fabulous, best steak ever, and the onion rings were to die for, the only thing I could fault was the Mango served with the rice pudding, was not ripe.....

Food choices were good but trying to find parking was a bit of a chore. I’m sure there must be a car park somewhere, but a mention on the website when booking would be most useful.

We have dinned here many times and I must say this was our worst experience.
We were celebrating our youngest sons 19th birthday so it was disappointing for us all as we rarely get together as we all live in different parts of the country and abroad but have a holiday home in Rock so tend to gravitate there occasionally.
On arrival we were put on a table more suitable for five people rather than seven, my husband complained so a chair was moved to the end of the table which was where people entered the restaurant and passed to the toilet.
We had an early booking and much larger tables were laid out for just six people.
My son and husband ordered the £110 T bone steak with the accompaniments which because the table was small were pushed to one end.
The presentation of the mushrooms was four mushrooms on a side plate and looked very unprofessional, the onion rings were not cooked inside so were left.
We were told that this meal was for two people but the chips and sauce were a portion for one.
On the plus side the steak was cooked to perfection and the starter of mushroom soup as usual was delicious.
It would be nice if the menu changed more frequently.
Other meals of our party were classed as just ok.
I'm not in the habit of complaining but feel that this evening wasn't the enjoyable evening it should have been.

Brilliant service and food. Our food was running late so we were given three complimentary starters (for 6 ppl), it was a lovely touch and meant we were more than happy to wait a little longer for our mains. Brilliant as previously mentioned, good attention to detail and I would recommend people try the sharing steak as it was scrumptious and with all the additional extras included worth the money.
