Simply excellent food, great staff and superb views over the Camel estuary. One of the best Sunday Lunches I have had, with brilliantly presented vegetables alongside elegant beef and magnificent Yorkshire puds - you couldn't ask for much more expect the Sharps beers are exceptional/.

Headed by Michelin-starred chef Nathan Outlaw, The Mariners Public House is a contemporary pub and restaurant overlooking the Camel Estuary. Fantastic local produce is served, with live music events also featuring.

The Mariners Public House menu is packed with freshly caught seafood – there are Cornish mussels cooked in Wolf Rock IPA, Porthilly oysters with shallot vinegar, and potted Cornish crab served with Doom Bar bread. Steaks at The Mariners come exclusively from South West Farms, aged on the bone for 28-32 days.

There is also a popular Sunday lunch menu at The Mariners Public House Rock, including free range roast pork, vegetarian options like rosemary gnocchi, and desserts like Cornwall strawberries with vanilla set cream. As well as beers from Sharpe's Brewery, there are over 20 bottled varieties from around the world.

Showcasing the very best in Cornish produce, The Mariners Public House is a 35-minute drive from Roche Rail Station.

The food was lovely but the service was awful, some of the members of staff really need training - so disappointing

Very friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere.

However, considering Nathan Outlaw is renowned for his fish, I think there was only one fish dish on the menu which was very disappointing to see and frankly, the Hake was underwhelming. The vegetables (paid for side dishes) were very nice though.

I think the best asset here is the location, just across from the waterfront.

There was a nice relaxed atmosphere in the dining room. The menu was varied, but not too extensive and a senior member of staff went through the ’specials’. Each dish was beautifully presented. The pork chop was especially good.

The food is always excellent whatever dish we choose

Both the Lemin sole and the Mackerel were delicious

We have eaten here many times. This visit was for a family lunch of 9 including our new grandson of 11 weeks. As usual the service is good and the atmosphere very vibrant. It can be very noisy at times especially upstairs. The quality of the food is good and the Roast Beef is tender and has an excellent flavour.

Excellent food (as expected - we have dined before at the Fish Kitchen, Restaurant Nathan Outlaw and The Capital.) Can't single out any particular dish. Superb views. No parking problems as we'd come from Padstow by ferry.
The only slight negative was the slightly slow service. The waitress did, after a little while, forewarn us, explaining that the chef wanted to ensure the dishes for the three of us were to be absolutely ready at the same time. However, it was rather too long a wait.

Having dined at Nathan Oulaws in Port Issac we were expecting a high quality meal in a pub atmosphere.. however it was anything but!
We both had the breaded hake which was served with a huge ‘lump’ of cos lettuce with some sauce drizzeled on it and a few bits of picked onion ... apparently this constituted a salad! The fish was fine, the new potatoes(extra) tasted like they had been cooking for a week.
Overall the staff in the restaurant were doing their best but there was no one Working in the restaurant over the age of 18 including the chefs !
We paid almost £100 for a meal that was relying on the name of Nathan Outlaw but would have been bettered in almost any pub in the area.
Before we visited we checked out the rating on trip advisor which was 3.5 out of 5 ... we discussed based on our previous experience and the good name of Nathan Outlaw this couldn’t be right .... after visiting The Mariners I am surprised the rating is any higher than 2 out of 5!
