With al fresco dining space in its leafy gardens, The Marchmont Arms is a refurbished country-style pub serving modern British fare. As well as a light-filled conservatory for dining, the pub comprises a bar & restaurant decked out with crushed-velvet seats & wooden floors, and warmed by open log fires.
With chefs given the opportunity to train at cookery schools in Spain and Italy, The Marchmont Arms menu features modern signature recipes made using the finest ingredients. As well as creative daily-changing specials, favourites include king prawn, crab and chorizo linguine, or spit-roasted chicken with lemon & garlic confit. A kids’ menu and Sunday roasts also feature, and desserts include rich vanilla and chocolate gelato with home-baked cookies.
The result of a treasured partnership with Rothschild wine merchants, the cellar showcases many fine wines, while token real ales and premium spirits are found at The Marchmont Arms bar. Nostalgic British nibbles and sharing platters bursting with international flavours offer more laidback dining.
The Marchmont Arms is a 9-minute drive from Hemel Hempstead Rail Station.

Wonderful food. Polite, friendly, patient staff.
Odd without tablecloths. Tables a bit battered looking and rustic in a palatial building.

Good location. Easy to find. A formal dining room plus various tables, inside by bar and outside on terrace not in the sun. Service was variable. Once we finished our main course we struggled to get our plates cleared and to order teas/coffees. Staff were busy spraying and cleaning tables and lots were at the bar chatting. Food was good and moderately priced. We had a sharing meze with salad and sweet potato fries. Well presented and chips were crisp and hot. Overall a good place for an informal lunch.

We got a Sunday roast trio, a roast lamb and a nut roast. The veg was not seasoned and really bland. Not enough gravy. The Yorkshire puddings were overdone and not enjoyable. And the worst bit was the nut roast. It was like dense mushy paste with no flavour, really not edible!!
Quite disappointed considering the prices for it all. Service however was alright.

We (two) both ordered scallops starter and were disappointed that the 3 scallops on the plate were so tiny and not good value for money .. we won’t order them again. The other dish (salmon) was very nice.

Great food and service, even on a busy Saturday night. Pricey but you get what you pay for!
