Available from 5pm Friday's and all day Saturday
At the crux of the Grand Union Canal and Fray’s River, The Malt Shovel enjoys a beautiful situation, in an eye-catching, listed 19th-century building. The whitewashed exterior and colourful interior aids the rustic charm created by the traditional British pub cuisine. You can enjoy the food by the welcoming log-fire, or in the al fresco garden for summer dining.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Malt Shovel menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Malt Shovel ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.
At just 5 minutes’ drive from both West Drayton Train Station and Uxbridge, The Malt Shovel is a country haven but close to towns.

Birthday celebration. 5 of us. Starter was Salt and pepper calamari, was really good. Everyone had good food and drink - no complaints. Helpful and supportive staff. Been here lots of times for lunch and dinner and always a pleasure. Will never rate 5 anywhere, as there is always room for improvement - Everyone strives for excellence, but it is just not possible. But you can get really close.

The atmosphere and service was very good. The waitress was polite and friendly. The choice of food was excellent and tasted good. The only complaint is that as soon as the starter plates were taken the main meal came out so no 'breather' between courses. Already planned our next visit.

The 3 people in our party all had the Sunday roast (2 lamb shanks and 1 turkey roast) and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The staff were all friendly but professional and efficient. The atmosphere was great. I would certainly eat there again and recommend it to others too!

I was not impressed by my broad bean and asparagus risotto - there were few beans and scant asparagus - just rice really. The others were generally happy but one didn't find many chicken pieces in his Chicken pie.
