Inside a breathtaking 5-star hotel overlooking the River Thames, The Lounge at the Royal Horseguards is a unique setting to indulge in a luxurious take on the quintessential British tradition of afternoon tea, with an al fresco terrace also on offer for when the weather allows.

Every aspect of the Lounge at the Royal Horseguards afternoon tea menu has been carefully crafted to offer the finest example of traditional British luxury. For starters, there is a unique signature loose leaf tea of strawberries and cream which perfectly complements the moist scones with indulgent clotted cream and jams. Beautifully presented finger sandwiches come with classic fillings such as smoked salmon, cream cheese, and cucumber, and there are also other contemporary savoury bites too.

Inventive sweet surprises are also served at The Lounge at the Royal Horseguards Westminster, such as marmalade jammy dodger, gooseberry inside-out Victoria sponge, and Pimms almondine. As well as the signature tea, there are other exotic blends like organic Monteviot Darjeeling, Oolong Fleur D'Orient, and Persian Pomegranate. Diners can also choose to add glasses of premium champagnes to their meals.

Housed in one of London's most iconic areas, and with wonderfully elegant touches throughout, The Lounge at the Royal Horseguards London sits 3 minutes' walk from Embankment Tube Station.

Hi. Was a little disappointed from first arrival as there was no one around to show us to our table so we had to find someone ourselves. We were then waiting a very long time for someone to come over and welcome / introduce us. When someone finally did, we had to ask them for the tea menu. It was then another very long wait for the tea and champagne to be served. Once the food finally came out, it was brought over to us but the lady didn’t talk us through what anything was. So we had to find another waitress to help us.

Overall a very slow wait and we didn’t feel very welcome at all. I don’t expect this from a 5 star hotel especially when you are then required to pay the service charge.

The food was lovely but just the service was not to a very high standard.

    Thanks
    Rosanna

I booked the terrace and we were seated in a lovely area. The view of the river together with the evening lighting created a lovely ambience.
The staff were very friendly and the food platter was delicious.
I would definitely recommend the place to friends and family.

The tea was lovely, the hotel elegant, our waitress was very kind and attentive.
The room was beautiful! Our table settings so dainty.
We were all happy with our tea and food. Even my husband, who came along reluctantly was surprised with the generous portions.
We were given complementary second glasses of champagne.
My daughter requires gluten-free food and given a nice selection. They are very accommodating for food allergies and needs.
We loved our tea and would recommend it to others.

Unfortunately our experience was marred by a catalogue of staff errors. Over a period of 2 days 2 different members of staff forgot our drink and food orders and when trying to resolve our problems we struggled to find staff who understood our complaint (English wasn’t their first language). A real shame given that the hotel room and the service we received from the hotel staff were absolutely 5*

It was the perfect father’s day. The food was as delicious as it was beautiful and I love it when they replenish the sandwiches. Highly recommend.

We had the Royal Horseguards Afternoon tea (39 pounds). Lovely food , lovely staff and service, so could not have been better !!
We also decided to have a light lunch next day in the Herb Garden. We live in Australia and look forward to visiting the hotel when next in London. Possibly staying there, subject to a good room rate.

We enjoyed our afternoon tea very much, but there seemed to be a lot of confusion from our waitress over my allergy information. Even though she had the details in the booking details, which she showed me on a print out of all their booking for the day, it took four separate conversations for her to understand what I wanted and what was okay for me to have. I would normally expect a much smoother service from this class of restaurant.
