A beautiful thatched-roof countryside pub, The Long Dog is an intimate spot for any time of day. A range of contemporary menus are offered, and there are regular live jazz evenings that are big draws.

The Long Dog menu adds international tweaks to traditional British recipes. There is pork belly with black pudding potato cake and pickled cabbage, fresh seafood like salmon fillet with jewelled quinoa and salsa verde, and vegetarian options like pea and mint risotto.

Craft beers from breweries such as BrewDog are served, as well as gluten-free lager and signature cocktails. Inventive desserts at The Long Dog Waddesdon include pear poached in wine and honey with nougat and sorbet, with a full wine list to accompany.

Also offering boutique wedding reception options, The Long Dog is 6 minutes' drive from Aylesbury Vale Parkway Rail Station.

Children's menu was ridiculously over-priced. £7.50 for small pesto pasta? And nothing else? No salad? At least taken off the bill. Second time there - first time good but second time not. Ox cheek was dry. Service was not great. At least friendly though.

Food was variable. My fish pie was small and salty - not great value at £14. Husband's fish and chips were good as was the roast.Nice service. Not as good as I remembered it being. On the US side the fireplace is super cosy!

Vibe and interiors were really nice but it felt cold, the service was slow and the food was not great. Pudding was yummy. The mains were disappointing, chips not thoroughly cooked. There was a wedding so think service and food sufffered as a result

After our visit Friday evening for dinner. Thought I best give some feedback. Also to gain response from the management.

The venue and location is superb.
We also have heard positive things from friends and family over last few years.
So I thought we should finally visit especially as we live 15mins away.

We left friday feeling very disappointed. My wife bread starter was not fresh but hard. After we made that clear to staff fresh bread was brought out. I even think this should not have been on the bill in first place.
My starter of baked carembert came served on the cardboard case with expiry date showing.

My xt beer from the pump was at end of its life and was dead.

I also would have thought that if staff smash glasses on pub floor, it would all be cleaned up.
Not left with visible glass on floor with dogs walking round the floor. We had to let a couple know with a dog to save them a vet bill.

I would say £70 for our dinner and drinks was not satisfactory.
I have contacted the restaurant. Not satisfied with response. They offered 20% off next meal. So I.guess we won't be returning.

We booked to take friends to lunch at The Long Dog because we had eaten there before and was very pleased with the experience. We were not disappointed on the second visit. We were quickly shown to our table, the staff were All very prompt, friendly and helpful. The food was once again fantastic, so well done Chef. We will definitely be back.
