We had a lovely time! We felt it was a friendly pub, with a nice 'new' outside bit which was overlooked by the church. Food was brilliant and they gave us extra chips!!! Food and drinks priced accordingly.

A beautiful thatched-roof countryside pub, The Long Dog is an intimate spot for any time of day. A range of contemporary menus are offered, and there are regular live jazz evenings that are big draws.

The Long Dog menu adds international tweaks to traditional British recipes. There is pork belly with black pudding potato cake and pickled cabbage, fresh seafood like salmon fillet with jewelled quinoa and salsa verde, and vegetarian options like pea and mint risotto.

Craft beers from breweries such as BrewDog are served, as well as gluten-free lager and signature cocktails. Inventive desserts at The Long Dog Waddesdon include pear poached in wine and honey with nougat and sorbet, with a full wine list to accompany.

Also offering boutique wedding reception options, The Long Dog is 6 minutes' drive from Aylesbury Vale Parkway Rail Station.

We received a warm welcome and were offered a choice of tables as the restaurant was not full. We were offered drinks promptly and our food order was taken quickly afterwards. Staff were friendly and helpful. The shared a starter portion of squid which was well cooked and presented. Our main course was hake which was excellently cooked, one of the best dishes l have eaten in a restaurant anywhere. A very good plate of food.

Nice table, great atmosphere, nice food. Splitting hairs, the evening menu could be a little broader and the young waiter lad was just starting out in life, but overall we were all very pleased

We had dined here 2 years ago and the place was packed and full of energy, not the same experience this time round.
We looked forward to eating at the Long Dog again . The whitebait starter was good, everything else was quite average ,we had the pasta "parpadella" dish, the herb risotto and the salmon teriyaki.
We had ordered a pasta dish that stated parpadella , when it arrived it was spaghetti - the waitress apologised after we pointed it out but did not seem too remorseful. By and large the whole experience was lacking ...... lacking attention to detail, lacking in the quality of service and food.
The only good thing about this experience was the Zinfandel Rose by Bulletin !!

Has the ownership changed? Food good but service very poor. Staff did not work as a team or support each other. Managed 1 course in 2.5 hours. Another table did not get their starter and another overlooked for deserts. Nowhere near as good as last time.

This was my second visit. Service was excellent and the food well presented. I shall visit again, I am sure.

Booking highly recommended on Sunday lunchtimes!

Unfortunately our table was booked for 8.15 and we're not seated till quarter to 9. By 9 o'clock we still hadn't had our order taken so we left. We only had one drink. There was clearly not enough staff, they seemed very run off there feet. It's a shame because it seemed like a lovely place.

Worst meal I've ever had. Who knew a Sunday roast could be done so wrong? For a quiet restaurant, taking over an hour for the food to arrive (after asking twice where our food was), the meat was not cooked properly, remnants of other meat on the plate (I ordered pork, and had chicken skin on my plate!) The potatoes/parsnips were crunchy and not cooked properly. We had to ask for vegetables, which looked like they were nuked in the microwave, and had flour on the side of the bowl?! I do however think it is a lovely pub on the interior to go to for a drink or two, but would not recommend the food at all.

Have had much better meals here than yesterday. Had to wait over an hour and a half for food and some of it was sent back (although they did give us a drink and say it was a new chef.) Friendly atmosphere, usually much better, have had lovely meals here in the past. Nice that locals get a discount. Fish and chips is the best dish, good choice on menu.

Had to leave after not being served, went to another restaurant which we bumped into another couple who did exactly the same!
