Inside a beautifully restored Grade-II listed building, The Lickfold Inn serves up bold, modern British dishes from acclaimed chefs Tom Sellers and Graham Squire. The rustic interior features exposed beams and roaring fires to gather round in the winter, while in the summer, diners can enjoy drinks outside by the kitchen garden.
The Lickfold Inn menu sources produce from the surrounding areas of West Sussex, and its own garden, resulting in seasonal dishes that offer bold, modern flavours presented with creative flair. To start, Sussex asparagus is served with set buttermilk and oats, with the option of adding Siberian caviar. For mains, more British flavours are on offer, including spring lamb with English peas and brown butter. There are popular Sunday roasts at the weekend, as well as a bar snack menu to enjoy with a quick drink.
Cask ales are on tap at the bar at The Lickfold Inn in Petworth, as well as a carefully crafted wine list and range of artisan spirits. For pudding, try eclectic treats like the chocolate hot pot with orange and pine, or go for the traditional cheeseboard with chutneys and toast.
Serving modern British menus in a cosy rural setting filled with traditional character, The Lickfold Inn is a 14-minute drive from Petworth.

Exquisite tasting menu and excellent service. An all round perfect dining experience.

The service was excellent, as was the presentation. The food was lovely, however, although I liked the dry texture of the halibut, my husband was less positive.
The portions were good; the dishes well- balanced.
We had gone early as our son has been critically ill and we weren’t sure how he’d cope; because we were early there were rather too many very well- meaning waiters hovering. Understandable.
We love it there.

Lovely inn with excellent food. Service is also polite and efficient with explanations of each dish as it is served. Tables well spaced so conversation is private. No intrusive background music. Highly recommend the steak tartare. Quiet and refined atmosphere.

Big disappointment based on reviews. Place lacking in atmosphere and flickering light bulbs and chipped crockery wasn’t really very good.
Food was tasty but nothing to write home about unfortunately and long way short of standard I was expecting. Not sure how Michelin stars can be talked about for this place. Wild Mushroom consomme was poured on garlic mayonnaise which immediately split leaving an unpleasant sight. Waiter attempted to remind us what was on the plate at each course but stumbled, incorrectly identifying various accompaniments. Herb crusted cod was very small, both of us left wondering what an earth happened to the rest of the fish! Passed on deserts as a result. On leaving we asked for our coats and was just pointed to the stairs and told we could them downstairs. Would not recommend, far better places in the area.

I booked on line then phoned 2 days before to check it was OK to bring a small birthday cake. On the special evening I was asked to leave the table and was quietly told there would be a charge of £6 per person for the cake. I refused on the basis that I was not told this when I telephoned. They then put £4 per person on the bill without telling me first. I refused again and paid the correct amount including the high 12.5% service charge. Though the food was excellent, the atmosphere was anything but. The waiter was obviously upset and made it obvious by his attitude. At this price I shall not be going again until there is a change in customer attitude.

The food was disappointing, very small portions..wine expensive but nice. Service was excessive and intrusive. Pretentious for an Inn. Service aufomatic on bill.
