Restaurant description
In quirky Westbourne, The Libertine offers homely British classics and an impressive bar stock. The pride of The Libertine, the outdoor Forge is a sheltered brick area filled with reclaimed furniture and a crackling wood burner.
Committed to working with the best suppliers, The Libertine in Westbourne is renowned for its charcoal-grilled steaks, delicious sharing platters and innovative puddings. From the varied Libertine menu, sample marinated duck skewers with cooling cucumber yoghurt, seafood and chorizo linguine, or the coriander lamb burger.
A comforting children’s menu offers dishes like mac ‘n’ cheese or bread hake, while experimental dessert flavours include chocolate and chilli praline torte, or plum & damson soup with vanilla panna cotta. A renowned wine cellar at Libertine features fine vintages, and locally-brewed ales are pulled at the bar.
In the dining room, vintage light fittings cast a subtle glow across the brilliant brass bar, rich caramel leather and hefty wooden furnishings. The Libertine bar is a 5-minute drive from central Bournemouth and the coast.

We loved the pub and the food was delicious but they had all ready ran out of a few things by 2pm. We wanted beef roast but they didn’t have any left and the two desserts we wanted, lemon cheese cake and sticky toffee had also sold out A bit disappointing but what we did eat was very good

Food was great, but they had run out of most of the dishes and the menu was very limited. No one told us this until we went to order which was quite disappointing. Everyone really enjoyed the food they did have but I don’t think we will visit again.

We have frequented the Libertine over the last 6 months, and we have noticed in the last couple of visits that things were changing, on Sunday I felt for the front of house staff. The food was disastrous cold and when speaking to our waitress she admitted that there were only two people in the kitchen, and one was the new Head Chef ?????. I had pork and it was basically a chop and was so I dry and tough, the gravy had no taste at all. The Manager did apologise and knocked my meal off the bill and did deal with my issues.
