Excellent food in a very good environment. Staff all very friendly and efficient. Food not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.We regularly travel 25 miles + each way to go there so that tells you something.

Nestled in an unspoilt pocket of Hampshire, The Leather Bottle pub and restaurant serves classic British fare and an extensive selection of wines and beers. With a history dating back to the early 18th century, guests can cosy up in front of the roaring fires in the winter, or dine al fresco on sunnier days.

The Leather Bottle menu offers a comprehensive selection of fare, from light bites perfect for sharing, such as baked Camembert or a charcuterie board, to pub favourites like fish and chips, or sausage and mash.

Scallops with ham hock fritters are a treat of a starter, while the selection of sandwiches are perfect for a quick lunch. The pudding selection is enviable, and features a huge variety of Salcombe ice creams and sorbets, spanning from crunchy honeycomb, to coconut.

The Leather Bottle in Mattingley is a stone’s throw from one of the most beautiful churches in England, and Stratfield Saye House, the home of the Duke of Wellington.

Lovely restaurant and food, although no-one came to take our order so after 15 mins I went to the bar to order! Great fish pie and ham, egg and chips! The waffle and grilled peaches was amazing too!

Great country inn setting, friendly staff giving great service, food was excellent. Only criticism - would have liked a slightly wider choice of starters

Simply delicious and fresh homemade desserts. Kids food eaten at record speed and nothing left on any of our plates!

Good food with wide choice available and atmosphere the night we attended was very busy but service and food very good with no long delays between courses .
The only negative was that it was very warm in the restaurant otherwise excellent night out .

The food and waiting staff were amazing.
We were shown to a great table in the restaurant until our disabled guest arrived with his assistance dog (clearly wearing his charity "Woofability" tabard) and we were informed that our guests would not be able to eat in the restaurant area with his assistance dog present. We were given an inferior table in the bar which greatly spoiled our enjoyment of the evening. Surely, the law states that assistance dogs ARE allowed in restaurants - to ban a dog that is there for the specific purpose of assisting his disabled master must be regarded as DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION. Woody, the dog, is both necessary to my friend and extremely well trained.
I look forward with interest to any comments you may have

Main course and waitress were great and the atmosphere of the pub was typically English pub like.
Just an issue with my dessert in the fact I had the waffle with chocolate sauce. The waffle was not even luke warm and had so so much cold chocolate sauce on it made it very sickly. A friend had the same dessert and his was fine with a small amount of sauce and the waffle hot. I believe the chef must have spilt far more sauce on in error and made it not of the best quality.
I do not wish to complain but it did ruin my experience of the meal overall.
